In the Supreme Directory Child Theme demo I see on some listings where it has the User Profile that an unclaimed listing has “Claim Me”. see screenshot
How do I set this up on listings that I import?
Seems that listings that I import using WP All Import assigns the listings to me. I can edit the listing and remove me but when I save the settings it reverts back to me showing me as the Listing Owner and not the Claim Me button.
Any suggestions on how I can edit the listing owner to show the Claim Me button instead?
August 3, 2019 at 1:21 pm #501070Export your listings. You will see a column headed “claimed”.
Enter a zero for not claimed and a 1 for claimed.
The assigned user ID is in the post_author column. You always need a user, so you would use normally user ID 1 and set to un-claimed. Having a user ID does not mean the listing cannot be claimed.
Thanks
August 3, 2019 at 1:57 pm #501084Thanks.. but what can I do with the listings that I have already uploaded? Can I edit them in WP admin page edit? I am not seeing an option to mark them Claimed or Unclaimed when editing a Place? Seems like that would be an available default edit.
August 3, 2019 at 4:30 pm #501104Hi,
What Guust explained…Export your listings. You will see a column headed “claimed”.
Enter a zero for not claimed and a 1 for claimed.
The assigned user ID is in the post_author column.Or you can edit 1 by 1 via wp admin, the is claimed checkbox should be between your custom fields. If not, you need to add it via Place settings > custom fields.
Let us know if still not clear.
Thank you
August 3, 2019 at 5:03 pm #501110Paolo and Guust,
Thanks… I only see the post_author column and not a claimed column.
So if I need to add this Claimed Column can you give me instructions on how to do that please?
This is something that you added to the Supreme Theme where it shows “Claim Me” if it is not claimed.
The issue I am having is that I uploaded via WP all Import some listings and they show me as the owner of the listing and I would prefer it say “Claim Me”.
It doesn’t look like I can just edit those listings and change it to “UnClaimed” (which would be very helpful and a feature I have in other WP Directory Themes).
Since I am just testing so far it would be easy for me to add a Claimed column to my CSV, assuming that option to map to that column is already in the import for GeoDirectory. But it would also be helpful to have the option to change this setting via admin when editing a Place listing.
Also can we add an image for the Claim Me profile image? see screenshot

Check the custom fields: did you add the “Is Claimed?” custom field? Is it active for all price packages?

Being the owner and being claimed or unclaimed are 2 different things. Every listings needs an owner, even if it is unclaimed.

Adding a column will not do anything, you must activate the addon and you must add the “is claimed” custom field.
But it would also be helpful to have the option to change this setting via admin when editing a Place listing.
You will, once you have the custom field set up.
Also can we add an image for the Claim Me profile image?
You can replace this file, but it will need updating everytime Supreme is updated: /wp-content/themes/supreme-directory/images/none.png
If we need to check your settings, post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply and we will have a look.
Thanks
August 4, 2019 at 3:30 pm #501210“Adding a column will not do anything, you must activate the addon…”
By addon you mean the GeoDirectory Pricing Manager? So… now I understand. I didn’t think you had to have the “GeoDirectory Pricing Manager” installed in order to claim a listing so I did not have it activated. Nor was it specifically mentioned.
I wasn’t planning on adding a Pricing Plan for this demo test but I did want business owners to be able to claim their listing. And I didn’t want to add yet another plugin especially WooCommerce….I try to avoid WC personally and really don’t like it when themes force me to install WC.
But really glad to see that you have another option with Invoicing and hope that it is a better option. I am however disappointed to see that it is not included in the Membership and is yet another cost to have additions like PayPal Pro and or Stripe. I guess that is the price to pay if I don’t want to use WooCommerce.
“and you must add the “is claimed” custom field” So you are saying that not only do I need to add the GD Pricing Manager Plugin but I also need to manually add the “is Claimed” custom field? Where can I find instructions on how to add the “is claimed” custom field?
About the Claim Me Image….“but it will need updating everytime Supreme is updated” Is there NOT a Child Theme for Supreme? Really?? You guys have done such a great job with GeoDirectory and it would be so easy to offer a child theme for provided themes. Sure hope this is on the roadmap as it would seem to make your job easier in the long run.
Just my thoughts:
I am just learning GeoDirectory and looking at it with fresh eyes. I think that sometimes that could be helpful. I know we get “blind” to issues when we are so involved in their development. So just sharing my thoughts in case it helps… otherwise feel free to disregard.
It feels awfully convoluted that you have to jump through all these hoops to use the features of the provided theme. I am sure that I am not the only user to run into these issues and have questions… am I? Maybe so… One of the things that I like about GeoDirectory is that even with all of these learning curves that I am facing it is more straight forward than most of the themes that I have tested.
So far I tested the Whoop theme and had an issue with the map showing up in the middle of the hero image… little did I know that this was an exact knockoff of the Yelp detail page. Why? because the demo does not show this detail page this way. That was confusing. Not sure why the demo would show a totally different example. So that was yet another support ticket to figure that out. And when I realized that it would take a lot more customization to change how it looked I needed to look for another theme.
So then I go to test a non GeoDirectory theme and that is a pretty good learning curve too. Then I go back to test the Supreme Directory theme and you see what issues I have had so far with it. Features are added to the theme that requires plugins in order to work but it took me and you all of these support tickets to get it sorted.
GeoDirectory has some of the best documentation that I have seen overall but each time I run into an issue I go first to the docs and then to search the support docs only to not find the answer. Just adding an ordered list that accompanied the Theme that explained any additional plugins to get the features all working would be very helpful instead of having to take your time and mine in support. I really would rather not even have to post in support but so glad you are here! You guys are awesome and I appreciate you so much but I also like to try and do it on my own if I can.
August 4, 2019 at 5:42 pm #501219Guust,
I was wrong about which plugin was needed. I thought it was the “GeoDirectory Pricing Manager” Plugin but instead I think it is the “GeoDirectory Claim Listings” Plugin.
Okay so I have it installed and I see the directions for adding the “Is Claimed” Custom Post Type but the screenshot in the instructions seems to be different than what I am seeing when I go to Add Custom Post Type.
see screenshots
This is at GeoDirectory/Settings/Post Types/Add New
Am I in the right place? If so is it possible that you have better directions?
August 4, 2019 at 10:15 pm #501239You need to add a custom field, not a Custom Post Type.
Go to Places > Settings > Custom Fields and add the field there. If we need to check your settings, post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply and we will have a look.
Thanks
August 5, 2019 at 9:54 am #501311Thanks Guust,
My rant about the Supreme child theme…. it dawned on me that Supreme is the child theme.Would be nice to have a way in the GeoDirectory setting to change the image for an Unclaimed listing. Since for me when I start a directory I am doing so with scraped listings that I do want to get claimed. That would solve this issue for the user image and losing it with updates.
I added the is_claimed custom field, added it to the free listings but dang if I can see any changes to the CSV file.
I will add my login below. Appreciate you checking it out. Thanks

I added the ‘claimed’ field to the CPT, reordered the fields, and added a test listing. Claimed and Maps appear to work, please check.
