I was just thinking – would it be worth noting on the posts if the themes we are listing work directly from install, and require no coding or css changes?
I only mention this to possibly help the developers and stop them receiving posts and emails saying the version of GD someone has brought or downloaded has problems as it can’t be the theme because it was listed here as compatible…
The theme I used is listed above, but be aware I worked constantly to get it to the point it is now, I had to change code in the css and also hard code into the main plugin files.
I also had to change code in the main theme files.
Also remember I had all the content already live and working in the site using another plugin directory.
There is negativity here, it was a lot easier then I thought it would be – which is credit to the theme and plugin developers.. 🙂
I can just imagine me a few years ago looking at these posts and saying “it said compatible!” and then emailing the developers saying why does it work on that site and not mine….
NOTE – This theme will work with a medium amount of user time and development knowledge.
May 9, 2014 at 2:57 pm #1591Good idea Dave. Similar to what somebody else suggested with Plugins. If they work well with GD we should note this somewhere. If it is a premium theme or plugin, the developers might even want see if they can sell it through Theme Taylors.

same developer as Jarida
highly compatable developer for the wpdirectory with buddypress, BBforum, WPML, fully responsiveMay 9, 2014 at 7:10 pm #1600stroudsco LOVE YOUR SITE simialr to what I am doing in concept, but your way, way ahead. I did notice one thing and just in case to give you a ‘heads up’ , the new directory in Manage Custom Post Types
Allows you to create a ‘LAMINATE’ CATEGORY like PLACES you can then create sub categories under it and when LAMINATE is selected show ONLY the subs in popular categories of LAMINATE not all the popular categories. This was essential to me!
It operates different then normal menu categories and has advanced uses.
I notice this on the http://wpgeo.directory/ for HOTELS, but had done a lot of my site before figuring out, Big thanks to Vikas for explaining, but had to wipe out site and start over :).
NOTE: On index page I would like to get the search bar up top and can not figure out how? As your software and mine are same developer let me know if a solved I suspect your wanting this as well and if I solve first will let you know.. if you may not want it it will just be a css thing I think but sadly I am not that good at it.
warmly brianMay 9, 2014 at 7:52 pm #1603Hi Brian,
I know what you mean about the custom categories and sub categories, I had this before and found that every client wanted something different – there are 100’s of different types of laminate, 100’s of makes, colours etc..
I found that going back to basics for me was easy and kept things in check…
I have run into some persistent problems today, i didn’t realise that my social media links did not work properley – they directed off to my old test site even though the connections are correct, also have some user issues and with absolutely everything turned off I’m getting spam emails, i would guess my clients are as well…
I will keep updating although maybe this should be moved to a different post ?
Dave

Thanks
May 9, 2014 at 10:58 pm #1629+1 Avada
==> Does this topic means I can’t use for now with Avada ?
May 10, 2014 at 2:15 am #1638hi Johan Vervaeck, You can use it with Avada, but the plugin style will not match 100% the theme style and the Plugin widgets will not be available as shortcodes via the theme layout builder. That requires an integration via a child theme…
May 10, 2014 at 3:02 pm #1698Hi Paolo. I am assuming when you guys have made the plugin 100% compatible with Avada you will announce it here?
May 10, 2014 at 5:33 pm #1722May 10, 2014 at 8:08 pm #1740I’ve just put my site on to Aldehyde – the free version at the moment. Just a couple of tweaks needed so far.
You need to set up a menu and assign it to the primary location for the responsive menu to work. Because it looks like GD automatically adds their pages to the main menu you just need to add home to the menu for it to work. If you don’t set up a menu then it will not work correctly on mobiles.
I need to do a bit of tweaking for the maps to get them to be responsive but its late and I’ve done more than enough for today.
The site on Aldehyde is at http://naturesites.co.uk
May 12, 2014 at 1:50 am #1785+1 for Genesis – or at least the Studiopress released Pro themes.
It sort of works on Genesis but would require hiring a developer to be compatible.
Which Genesis child themes did you test it as per this comment, and can you share what modifications you made to Genesis themes to get it working – thanks
We have tested it with 2012, Genesis and various of its child themes, Sahifa, Buddyboss and basically any theme which is compatible with bbpress, buddyrpess or woocommerce seems to be compatible with GD too.
May 12, 2014 at 7:10 am #1798You can’t find it, because is SAHIFA… http://themeforest.net/item/sahifa-responsive-wordpress-newsmagazineblog/2819356
May 12, 2014 at 10:24 am #1820Dynamik Website Builder for Genesis would be great.
May 15, 2014 at 5:52 pm #2213This suggestion/request really is a mix between 1) shortcodes and plugin universality and 2) ability to work with other plugins and themes.
I haven’t really used it much, but the ability to work with a plugin like SiteOrigin’s Page Builder (I’m sure there are other plugins like this as well; and similar I think to the Dynamik Website Builder reference).
Ultimately I think what it comes down to and what would make GeoDirectory the most powerful tool of its kind will come down to separation of function from design…the ability to “compose” my own unique page layouts based on whatever theme I want to use and call up the GD functionality within that.
The hope would be that I don’t have to specify using the GD homepage or not, or is the theme I’m using “approved/compatible.” I’m sure the team recognizes this and is already working to get to that point or as close to that as possible.
Cheers
