CPT- dropdown like Categorie in Main Searchbar, but with Multiselect

    Hi,
    i try to explaine my question:

    THe User hase the possiblity to choose varios(more than one) categories in the “add listin page”- this categories can be placed in the Main search bar(advanced Search) and can be seen in the main searchbar- exactly like “property status” or “jobtype”.
    But the user can choose only one jobtype or one property status. and be found by just one typ of job…

    If i like to have a dropdown “like” categories, (wehre users can choose more than one option) for the searchbar, it is not possible to show them in the mainsearchbar…It shows up in the search bar- but not in the Mainsearchbar and the user have to klick at the weehlbutton to open the advanced searchbar.

    I want to have another Kind of dropdown(what is in the mainsearchbar located). But this dropdown has to be like the Multiselect option: This means: the User could choose in the add listingpage more than one option (like the categories) and be found at multiple things…

    I hope someone understand this… iam bad in englisch.

    Sorry, but that cannot be done.
    The only way to allow visitors to pick exactly which categories they want to search is to use the Customize My Search option.
    You can set the “cogwheel” permanently open by setting the widget to “always open”.

    Hi, fast reply!

    ok, so i get it right: to add a listing- i can choose multiple categories (wich are presented in the mainsearchbar)- and be found with multiple categories!

    But i want to have another option- what is exactly like the categories: I want to add multiple options in the listings-aaand be found with that multiple options-aaand it has to be in the mainsearchbar (without needing the weel)

    And this is not possible?

    Hope i get it right 🙂

    Without customising the search in any way, the search will automatically search in all categories.
    You would only want to use the extra “category” selection if you want to narrow your search.

    Custom fields can be added to the search, but not to the main bar.
