I’m new to GeoDirectory and have been reading through the documentation and just want to make sure I understand my next step correctly! I am making a directory of members of an association. People who want to hire these members will come to the site and be able to search for them by location and then see all their information. So the default post type “places” for my purposes should actually be something like “members.” I can either edit the po file to make places say whatever term it is I need (i.e. member) or I can use Custom Post Types Add On and make a CPT for that and use that CPT instead of the default CPT Places to create my directory. Am I on the right path?

    Hello Mychelle,

    Sounds like a good start!

Consider using categories to let your members pick which services they offer, and tags to offer services that are more nuanced.

Use as few categories as possible to show as many listings as possible while browsing the categories. Examples might be Gardening or Cooking or Driving

Try out UsersWP https://UsersWP.io to add nice profiles or more advanced engaging features for members.

Thanks! And one step further, I want the members to be able to edit their own entries. This would be through using the Claim Listing add-on, correct? Or are there other options to do this?

If they add the listing they can already edit it, if u add it then yes they would need ot claim it to edit it.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
