    Hi,

    I have a question about the best way to customize things. Apologies, I’m new at this and really appreciate your help!

    Question:

    For the search result listings that show up after conducting a search, I’d like the change the way things display in the rows. Primarily, I’d like to remove bullets. Example:

    Currently, this displays like this in the search results within each place shown (with bullets, each option on its own line) —

    Meals Offered:
    * Breakfast
    * Lunch

    And I’d like it to look like this –

    Meals Offered: Breakfast, Lunch

    Thank you!

    Hi Megan Flynn,

    Thanks for your post. Try using custom CSS to adjust it and here is an article for your reference. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/customizing-your-style/

    Okay, thank you! Follow-up questions:

    It looks like there’s no custom CSS area in V2 (in the link you provided, it says to go to GeoDirectory > Design > Scripts > CSS Custom Code and that doesn’t seem to exist)? I assume I should make modifications in the actual stylesheet?

    And then, when I inspect the element (which I’ve done before), it isn’t really working out. I want to eliminate the bullets, and have them be comma separated instead, for all fields both on the listings and the listing details page. There doesn’t appear to be anything in the CSS that’s telling the content within the geodir_post_meta or any of the other elements that is telling it to put that content in a bulleted list that I can find?

    Is it defined in one of the template files somewhere? And if so, do you know which one?

    Hi Megan Flynn,

    Thanks for your reply. Could you share the URL of the page in question so that I could check on it? In the meantime, you can insert all your custom CSS code into Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS.

    Hi Kor,

    Thanks, I found that area! I can’t share the URL because the website isn’t yet live.

    EDIT: Actually, I’m having troubles all around. I’m generally somewhat decent at modifying existing plug-ins, but, this has turned out to be more complicated than I thought it would be…I’m hitting roadblocks at every turn. Any recommendations on someoe that could be hired to make some custom modifications? I’ve got a list of specific things that we’d like to have tweaked. This is for a personal side project with a friend, but I’m on a tight deadline and didn’t realize this would be so hard to modify…so I’d be interested in seeing what someone would charge, but would rather it be someone who is already familiar with this plug-in.

    Thanks for your help!

    I’m looking around, though, just to see if I can get this figured out and really do not think I see a way to change the items to be listed as comma separated values rather than a bulleted list via CSS.

    I see other templates do this so I definitely know it’s possible!

    Is there a template page that I can modify to change the layout of the items in the listings? There are a lot of files for this plug-in, and I’ve been exploring them but am uncertain which one this would be in. The archives items page defines what goes in the listing at a high level, but doesn’t get as detailed as laying out how each category that gets pulled in should be displayed.

    Sorry for the string of posts. In case it helps, am posting a screenshot of what it looks like now versus a (terrible) mock-up of what I’m trying to do.

    The ones with the blue background are the actual site. White is the mock-up.

    Thanks!

    Hi Megan Flynn,

    Thanks for your reply. Most of the designs are configured directly on your theme. Which theme are you using? I would advise that you start off with our themes and work it out from there.

    Everything that is generated from GD can be adjusted, such as stylings and adding parameters to the shortcodes to display more info from a listing.

    Thanks!
