    ps The location switcher would be a nightmare because I have 63,000 plus listings.

    Is there a way of filtering gd_locations to just region?

    GD doesn’t have a State/Region selector in the search bar.

    Do you have an example of the exact search URL you are trying to create?

    Can we see a link to your site?

    A link would not show you anything different.

    Here is the layout:

    Post type: Business only
    Business Categories: 30
    Listings: 63,487 and increasing – they are spread across all 30 categories and all 50 states in the USA

    My users have to be able to select a Category then drill down to a specific State (Region).

    Selecting the Category is the easy part. Once they have selected the category though it has to be filtered down to a State (Region) level.

    If the GD features as they are won’t work for you, what I can think of would be a custom code solution, focused on creating the search URLs you are looking for with the UI you have specified.

    Have another look at Kor’s post at https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/custom-search-gdv2/#post-467490

    Create a SELECT field that needs to be added to each listing, and use the options “Alabama,Arkansas,” etc.
    Then add that SELECT field to the search bar and hide whatever you want to hide.

    Filtering the search results is not possible, search results are always based on the search parameters entered by your visitors. If you select category and state at the same time, both search parameters will be applied.

    Only category pages can be sorted, see image for how part of archive pages looks.
