I am using GeoDirectory 1.6.28 with Location Manager and Advanced Search and have had good success making most of the modifications I need to make. I have run into an issues I can not figure out and am looking for some guidance.

Is there a way to have the main Listing Page (default permalink is /places/) be my homepage? As it is not a page nor a category I can find no way to set it as the homepage. The GD Home page will not work for me as I need to display the places alphabetically, and display only those places, listed on the page on the Google Map. The places page does this perfectly. I was unable to configure the GD Home page to work in this fashion.

    Thanks!

You are right, there is no built in way to set the dynamic pages as the WP Front Page, that would require a customization.

Can you say ore about the issue with the GD Home page?

Popular Post View widget allows sort by A-Z.

Hi Alex. Thanks for the quick response. I have two issues with the homepage I was unable to resolve.

    1. The Home page map shows all listings if all categories are selected. I have around 250 businesses and over 60 categories. I really need a map just like the one on the Listing page, where all that is displayed are the listings that appear on the page. I do not want to use the category list on the map as a filter as I have too many categories to display without scrolling. I would prefer to use the advanced search on the page so users can sort that way.
    2. I need pagination similar to the Listing page. On the homepage the options appear to be a fixed # of listings or all.

It would be great if there were a GD “Places” page similar to the GD Home and Locations pages which could be selected as the home page to show the dynamic page content.

Hmm…so the option at GD – Design – Map – Categories to untick by default? That doesn’t work for you?

There is a lot you can do with shortcodes. Try a Listing Map with a GD Listings shortcode in a new page and let us know how it goes:

Shortcodes. That looks like it may do the trick. I have created a new page, set it as home and added the following shortcodes:

    [gd_listing_map width=100% height=425 zoom=12 autozoom=true]
    [gd_advanced_search show_adv_search='always']
    [gd_listings]

There is still one issue. The listing map is not displaying any markers and is set to the middle of the Pacific Ocean. If I can get the map to work this will be the perfect solution. Any ideas why it is not displaying markers for the listings from the gd_listings shortcode?

I have the Map, partially fixed. There is a typo in your shortcode examples. For the listing map it shows the height set to a number. If you use pixels, the number needs to end with px or it breaks the map. In my code 425 should be 425px. With this change my map now displays markers although I am back to the same issue as I have with the GD Homepage Map, unlike the map on the actual listing page, this map is displaying all 250+ markers. Is there an option to only display markers for the listings listed on the page?

The short codes were close but without the map working properly it will not work for me. I have decided to put a redirect on a custom homepage template and have it go to the places url. A little crude but should work. Thank you very much for the prompt responses.
