Display only certain categories

I am building a directory that will have a lot of categories in it. I intend to create a lot of sub categories so it could get quite big. Is it possible to change what is displayed in the overlay on the map? I don’t know what to call it but I’ve attached it to this post.

I am aware that it is possible to show / hide post type and category on map but I don’t want to hide anything on the actual map, just what shows in the search box that overlays it.

Unfortunately this is not possible, you can hide the category/post type, but as you said this will be hidden on the map too.

I could be wrong, I’ll notify Paolo, so he can confirm it.

You can “Collapse child/sub categories” in the Home Map widget on the GD home page.
That way only categories will show, and subs will be hidden initially.
Is that what you want?

yes and no!!! I’ve just tried that and it shows Media (parent) and hides Videographers (child), which is fine, but means that if I untick Media it still shows the Video category icons for listings on the map.

Hi,

honestly I don’t understand what are you trying to accomplish exactly.

This is what I understood.
You don’t want the subcategories to show in the map menu, but you want to be able to show/hide them on the map?

There is no way to do that.

How would the visitor trigger the show/hide???

that is possible by adding this css to GeoDirectory >> Design >> Scripts >> Custom CSS
```
.map_category {
    display: none;
}
```
