One of my listing categories is “Restaurants” and I would like to display a complete list of restaurants in the sidebar of some core wordpress posts and pages when those posts and pages relate to food.

I’ve tried to use the built-in GD Listing Widget, added it to a sidebar called “Restaurant Sidebar”, restricted the listings to restaurants, and am trying to selectively add this sidebar to the pages I want. It doesn’t seem to work… either I have to show the sidebar everywhere and it filters correctly or it shows all listings without filtering by Restaurant.

Is there an easier way to do this and customize it? Maybe with a Custom HTML widget? And if so where are the rules/definitions for creating these loops?

    hi Rob Jackson,

Thanks for your post. You can try using the “Visibility Widget” feature from jetpack here https://jetpack.com/support/widget-visibility/ . I hope it helps.
