Enfold, Avada, X, Divi they are all based on visual composer. I haven’t tested Jupiter (other than looking into it in your website) so I don’t know if it offers more… but as far as I know the above mentioned themes are between the top sellers ever and are all loved by their users…
December 21, 2014 at 10:01 pm #25218Paolo, I use The Event Calender from http://tri.be on some of my websites. They also have same challenge to display event in respective theme template (similar to our issue of listing, listing detail template). But they have given an option in the setting, where you can either use default plugin template css or use css from an identified page template. User have to select that page template though for 2nd option to work. This solves the typical problem of theme compatibility to an extent.
You guys have to see, as it is not very practical keep releasing compatibility plugin for every new theme. for past 15 days, I’m only trying to figure out, which theme to use (so far tried designwall/gavick pro/theme foundry themes). Still undecided 🙁 My need is a minimal theme with woocommerce support. Seen enfold, x, genesis, avada and divi. None of these fits my need.
I’m liking your plugin code. You guys have done an amazing job. I guess, its the last bit of it.
@nippi9, I liked Jupiter, let me know if u r working on the compatibility plugin for Jupiter theme.
December 22, 2014 at 8:22 am #25240I opted to change to Avada theme for the one site I had already migrated(from Sabai directory) and have for the moment ended all plans to continue using Geodirectory for any other directory sites I operate.
Reasons are:-
a. Other plugins just work out of the box. With all their limitations, they are still less problematic than Geodirectory. Sabai for one, just works. And no I am not a Sabai fan boy. I paid for a membership here with the aim to moving to Geodriectory… its just proved impossible to do.
I don’t feel to create patches to make a plugin work, and the alternatives to Jupiter are not as good. For example, Jupiter allows elements to be hidden from mobiles. Avada doesn’t. Its just not as good.
b. Geodirectory location pages are missing the trailing slash meaning all location pages redirect. Not good when these are the sitemap for you directory. I advised this a couple of months ago yet no movement on a fix for it.
Having paid for a membership for a plugin that doesn’t work out of the box, leaving me more costs and to see what I see as a major bug being left unfixed?
I am abandoning using the plugin for now.
December 22, 2014 at 6:55 pm #25282Thanks @njainb, we’ll definitely look at their system and if we can adopt it and get rid of templating issues we will definitely work on it!
Cheers,
December 22, 2014 at 7:02 pm #25283Ok Nippi, thanks for the feedback, after the holidays we will see if what @njainb has suggested is feasible and if it is maybe we can convince you to come back.
About the trailing slash missing in location pages though, I’m not sure I understand what you are referring to. I see end slash in all our URL, both canonical in source page and in the actual URL.
Thanks!
December 22, 2014 at 7:57 pm #25286Hmm, I pointed out the problem some months ago, and since I am hooked up for auto updates figured if it had been fixed, it would have been fixed in my site.
Hasn’t happened, though when I check your demo site(your demo site location pages also redirected) i notice they arent anymore.
Will check and see why its now fixed on yours, but not on mine.
I hope you do manage to make your plugin work regardless of themes, or selfishingly in my case, at least with jupiter.
January 2, 2015 at 9:02 pm #26148OK… so Avada… I’m a hating it. Out of the box, its just ugly. The way post pages are set up is crap, and getting around the defaults is a pain. Sorry, its not even in the same ballpark of lovliness as Jupiter.
So, I am moving back to Jupiter and giving up on Geodirectory for now.
Let me know if you ever make your plugin simply work with any theme or if you create a compatibility pack for Jupiter.
January 2, 2015 at 9:03 pm #26149we sure will.
Thanks
January 12, 2015 at 7:00 pm #27194The Event Cal is the plugin I mentioned. The feature I’ve mentioned is available in free version. Pls check and see if something is possible. It will be good for everyone, as there are thousands of themes around.

Looking forward to hear you soon.

NitinJanuary 12, 2015 at 7:08 pm #27196hi nitin,
thank you for the info, we already downloaded and tested.
They basically add 2 text areas where you can add extra html to make sure the plugin output is wrapped correctly between the theme’s header and footer.
For GeoDirectory would be a partial solution though. In Theme’s like Avada, Enfold and so on you would have 2 page titles, 2 breadcrumbs and other not so good looking things.
Stiofan is looking into an even better solution. However, the best possible solution would be to convinvce theme authors to start integrating GD into their themes and for this reason we will also focus on developers documentation in the next coming months.
Thanks
January 13, 2015 at 7:35 pm #27398@paolo, I think I’m talking about the options available before these 2 boxes.
First is for default stylesheet used for events template (where style can be used from theme css). Other is for choosing the default page template. Trust me both these option works.
Requesting you to relook at this. I’m using the pro version. Let me know if you need any reference.
January 14, 2015 at 1:28 am #27435Thanks for the heads up, I’ll give a second look at these options in this case.
Cheers,
February 4, 2015 at 4:58 pm #29987Just FYI, we are working on Jupiter now. Should be compatible with next release.
Thx
