I seem to have the most wonderful problems. Sorry to be a pain 🙂

When viewing locations in a place (list view), the domain name seems to be being truncated, and in some cases alternatively having the www stripped off.

So, for example, when looking at all accommodation in a Place, hovering over the entries for two locations in the place shows the link as “www.domain/places/[country]/[county]/[town]

The domain should be http://www.domainnameinfull.tld but it is being truncated to http://www.domain so obviously the link doesn’t work.

On the same page, hovering over one of the categories at the top of the page usually shows the first part of the link as domainnameinfull.tld rather than http://www.domainnameinfull.tld but occasionally the www will appear.

This appears to be javascript related. I have replicated it in IE 11 and Chrome.

I’ll post more details in a private post below

But it all works, does it not?
All that is happening is that your status bar is a bit slow in showing the full URL, but the link works. Correct?

Paolo, yes, Core is 1.5.8 and all other add-ins updated to very latest as of yesterday.

Guust, no, for the truncated domain problem, if you click on the link you get whatever is shown in the status bar – half the domain – so you’d end up at an invalid domain. The truncated domain name never becomes the full domain name, no matter how long you wait/hover.
This happens in Chrome and IE and Firefox.

For the missing www, I’ve just seen that in Chrome, if you hover and wait long enough it becomes www in the status bar. At the moment is seems to work OK in IE and Firefox – www always shown.

But I cannot tell if clicking before the www appears takes you to the www domain or to the non-www though – the hosting is set to change domain.tld to http://www.domain.tld.

The www/no www is not a huge problem. Since it only appears to affect Chrome I’m not really bothered. But the truncated domain is a big problem though!

    Hi,

this is very strange, I can’t recreate it on any of our demos though. I suspect it is due to an htaccess rule, but I can’t confirm it.

I’ve asked to the developers to follow up.

    We’ll keep you posted.

    Thanks for your patience,

p.s. it only happens when a location is set

    Hi,

this was a wee bug that only happens when the custom post type name is present in the domain name and a location is set.

    In your case “places”.

The developers fixed it and applied the fix to your website.

    Please confirm.

    Thanks

Yes, that’s definitely working. THANK YOU!

What a wonderful little bug 🙂

Follow up: Did somebody install Query Monitor, either for investigating this issue or one of the others I’ve reported in the past few days? I certainly didn’t install it, but it has mysteriously appeared in my plugin list.

Yes query monitor was installed to check this bug, only logged in as admin you can see it.

Sorry if we didn’t disable it, you can proceed.

    Thanks
