I have few items in gd_place, I try to edit an icon for a place, the edit screen loads for a few mins then crashes the browser.
From here:
wp-admin/edit-tags.php?taxonomy=gd_placecategory&post_type=gd_placeCrashes Firefox, IE, Chrome
The link loads tinyMCE and it just kills the browser. Anyone else experiencing this? Right now I can’t edit the Category Icons associated with the place.
September 22, 2014 at 3:53 pm #16142To be specific this one pop ups a message and then if you hit ignore it kills the browser:
wp-includes/js/tinymce/wp-tinymce.php?c=1&ver=4104-20140822:3September 22, 2014 at 5:03 pm #16160Hi,
do you have any plugin installed othe than GD and addons? In case, I’d try to disable them all to see if one of them is creating a conflict.
Let us know,
September 22, 2014 at 5:16 pm #16161Hi Paulo,
The only plugin that was active was “Varnish” which I disabled, still no go. The page loads slowly then crashes the browser.
September 22, 2014 at 5:19 pm #16162can you provide wp admin credentials and a link in a private reply?
I’ll have a look.
Thx

TinyMCE script is heavy and tends to slow down any page using it, but in this case it appears that the server doesn’t have enough resources to use it.
What kind of hosting plan are you using?
It takes 30+ seconds before even starting to load the 1st page elements.
I’ve never seen this error before, I think that simply using a better performing server would solve it.
Let us know,
Thx
September 22, 2014 at 8:08 pm #16177how do i disable the tinyMCE?
September 22, 2014 at 8:12 pm #16178That is part of wordpress, it can’t be disabled…
September 23, 2014 at 6:00 pm #16288This is the feedback I got from the provider “DreamHost.com”
It’s not a standard feature of the taxonomy interface to use TinyMCE,
which means the issue may lie in the way the Custom Post Type is calling
it. However, as this is custom code, we’re really limited in our ability
to debug why it acts the way it does. It does look like WordPress is
running out of PHP memory. How much does GeoDirectory claim you need to
run their plugin?September 23, 2014 at 6:29 pm #16291hi Gamer,
the fact that it is unusual, doesn’ìt mean it shouldn’t work.
It works on any other website I’ve tested with our plugin on a great number of servers, which means they are giving you very little memory to excute your scripts.
Are you on a low end shared hosting?
If yes, that is the reason why it doesn’t work. I’d suggest moving to a faster hosting provider or upgrade your account with them to at least a decent VPS.
Thanks
September 23, 2014 at 7:36 pm #16307It is a VPS hosting specially made for wordpress. So now you’re tossing the ball to the other end. No problem, I’ll play this tennis game.
September 23, 2014 at 7:55 pm #16309Given that it works for any other website I’ve tested using our plugin, I can say for sure it is a specific hosting problem.
Otherwise this forum would be flooded with simlar thread, but if you do a search you will see that this is the only one.
The fact that a VPS in unable to use TinyMCE on any given page (who cares where I’m trying to load it), it means that the server is faulty.
If they are unable to fix it, possibly moving you to a server where you have a minimum of ram and cpu available, I suggest to move to wirenine.com or BlueHost. I know for sure that on their cheapest shared plans, TinyMCE works on that page flawlessly.
Thanks
September 23, 2014 at 9:32 pm #16331That’s the only way to diagnose this issue. I’ll get a a/c on a different provider and setup there to see.
