Embed map/searchbar in other (wordpress) websites?

Hi,

i have just found out that a competitor (to my) directory will be re-launching its website soon, allowing other websites to embed its map and other directory content into their (topic-related) websites as though it is their content. ‘What a great idea – why haven’t I thought of that?!’ was my first response.

2 mins later and I have put a link to my directory behind a picture widget in the sidebar of another of my (sort-of-related) websites. I am wondering though if it is possible to use a shortcode or other means of allowing other websites (ideally authorised by me) to actually embed a GD map or Search Bar etc. in the widget of another website (or even in content of other non-wordpress websites)?

I see from an old thread that this was not offered in 2014 – is there a solution now that I have missed in my early thoughts? It would be great to be able to offer an embedded directory map/search bar to suitable websites, but if not then I guess I will be happy with my current solution.
