Hi, I have detected an error when the user introduce some cities in the CITY FIELD of the SEARCH BAR. Following I show two examples:
EXAMPLE 1:
If I write in the SEARCH BAR the city VIC and click in the SEARCH BOTTON, I will be redirected to the following page:
http://infocity.website/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_event&s=+&snear=vic&sgeo_lat=-37.4713077&sgeo_lon=144.7851531
with the following coordinated:
Latitude -37.4713077
Longitude 144.7851531
and in my web will be shown “PAGE NOT FOUND”.
So I have investigated… I am going to the ADD LISTING PAGE
http://infocity.website/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_place
and I have writed the word “VIC” in the “ADDRESS FIELD”. So a drop down windows suggest me like first option “VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA”. If I select that, the map indicate the following coordinated:
Latitude -37.4713077
Longitude 144.7851531
This is just the same coordinated indicated in the URL.
In the ADD LISTING PAGE, In order to show “VIC”, I need write “VIC BARCELONA”, so the drop down window will let me select the correct city I want.EXAMPLE 2
If I write in the SEARCH BAR the city CASERES and click in the SEARCH BOTTON, I will be redirected to the following page:
http://infocity.website/?geodir_search=1&stype=gd_event&s=+&snear=caseres&sgeo_lat=39.4752765&sgeo_lon=-6.3724247000000105
with the following coordinated:
Latitude 39.4752765
Longitude -6.3724247000000105
and in my web will be shown “PAGE NOT FOUND”.
So I have investigate… I am going to the ADD LISTING PAGE
http://infocity.website/add-listing/?listing_type=gd_place
and I have writed the word “CÁCERES” in the “ADDRESS FIELD” and I have selected “CÁCERES, SPAIN”. The map indicate the following coordinated
Latitude -37.4713077
Longitude 144.7851531
This is just the same coordinates indicate in the URL. But I dont have searched “CÁCERES”, I have searched “CASERES”. It is very stange…This errors are frequentily with some other cities.
CONCLUSION
In ADD LISTING PAGE there is a good system in order to introduce the direction of the CITY, but in the SEARCH BAR, there is no this system and the search do a wrong results.
I think you must introduce in SEARCH BAR the same system you have in ADD LISTING PAGE, so when users do a serch they will have a correct result.Let me know if I am right, and if you will do a changes in SEARCH BAR implementing this features.
I hope your answer.
Thanks very much for your support.October 31, 2015 at 12:59 pm #58651This is how the GD search works:
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#how
If you enter VIC, Google will think you mean the state of Victoria in Australia and then GD will look in your database to show all listings that are within your set radius of the center of Victoria.
Same for Caseres: Google makes up its mind that you mean Caceres [don’t ask why, we don’t know 🙂 ]If you use the Advanced Search addon, the search can suggest cities that are already in the database too. See image
October 31, 2015 at 3:23 pm #58659Hi,
Before I buy SEARCH ADD I am investigating how work it.
I have looked the following web (it is in the DEMO PAGE of GEODIRECTORY)
http://www.love-weymouth.co.uk/events/
If I am understood good, this web has SEARCH ADDON. I can see that with SEARCH ADDON I can have the following:
1. Option in order to change the RADIUS where GD will search
2. Option in order to Select the DATE RANGE where GD will search (in the events page)
But if I introduce a CITY, in this page (http://www.love-weymouth.co.uk/events/), in the NEAR FIELD, there is no drop down windows just like in the image you sent me.
Can you give me a WEB DEMO, where I can see how work the NEAR FIELD, just how do the image you sent me?
Thanks very much for your support.October 31, 2015 at 5:56 pm #58680Hi,
we are considering adding the google autocompleter in the near field too.
We’ll let you know as soon as we get to it in our to do list.
Thanks

When you go there, do NOT accept the geolocation and then try the NEAR field.November 1, 2015 at 1:51 am #58698Hi,
now in the web http://www.love-weymouth.co.uk/events/ in the NEAR FIELD if I introduce “weymouth” there is the DROP DOWN WINDOWS.
So, I think you are just now added “GOOGLE AUTOCOMPLETER” in the NEAR FIELD.
Now, SEARCH BAR is good.
Good work.November 1, 2015 at 2:07 am #58699On some sites you have to wait a bit for the suggestions to come up.
Just for your info, http://www.love-weymouth.co.uk/ is a customer site, not our site.
So we did not add anything, that is the current configuration.November 1, 2015 at 5:07 pm #58708ok I understand.
When I go in http://wpgeo.directory/, a window ask me about my GEOLOCATION. If I share my GEOLOCATION, automatically my CITY will be introduced in the NEAR FIELD. I am interested in add this feature in my web, but I dont have seen in the GEODIRECTORY ADDON (https://wpgeodirectory.com/addons/) an special addon that let me to do that in my web.
So, my question are:
1. In http://wpgeo.directory/ what is the addon or pluguin that ask at the users their GEOLOCATION?
2. My city will be introduced automatically in the NEAR FIELD only the first time I am connected. If I go to other pages (for example http://wpgeo.directory/events), CITY there will be included automatically. Do you know if is possible let the GEO PLUGUIN add automatically the CITY in the NEAR FIELD every time that the user visite a new GeoDirectory page?
3. This feature only introduce my CITY in the NEAR FIELD. Do you know if there is an ADDON that show like default only PLACES and EVENTS near the GEOLOCATION of the users?
4. The next week I will install WP PRO GEO TARGETING PLUGIN (http://codecanyon.net/item/wp-pro-geo-targeting/303324) in order to show ADVERTISING depending of the city of the users. Do you know if this pluguin is compatible with GeoDirectory, and can improve Geodirectory features?
Thanks very much for your support.November 1, 2015 at 9:55 pm #587211. The advanced search addon.
2. If a user has accepted geolocation on entry to your site, the site will stay in that location until the user chooses to go to a different location. So if she visits the events pages, it will only show the events for her set location.
3. If you use the NEAR ME widget, the site will go to /location/me which is a page that can show all CPTs. The page is using the GD Home/Location template.
4. I have no idea really. It will not change any GD features but you might end up with a conflict between the two plugins. I’ll ask the others too.
November 2, 2015 at 4:54 pm #58787Hi,
4) I’ve never tested and I doubt it will be compaitble out of the box…
