Dear GD support team,
I am trying to use the events calendar on the archive pages for all events and subcategories, and am encountering some unexpected behaviours:
- The calendar highlights dates on which no events are active (a click on the date displays the search page with the “No results found…” message). It seems that this is due to some events which are either in “draft” or “pending approval” state, and therefore should not be displayed/highlighted on the calendar.
- The calendar always displays all events, independently on the actually displayed archive (subcategory, search page, etc.). Is there any way to have the calendar display only events based on the events actually displayed on the corresponding page (with corresponding filters for subcategory, past/future events, search results, etc.)? In the shortcode builder, there are only the options “Use current viewing post type?” and “Enable location filter?”.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Kind regards,
AronAugust 27, 2019 at 1:07 pm #5051371. That looks indeed like a bug, I’ll get the developers to have a closer look.
2. There are no other options at this time, but maybe the developers may want to add any comments.
Thanks
August 29, 2019 at 6:09 am #505489Hi,
1) It was showing non published events on calendar. We have fixed it and thanks for spotting. It will be in next release. Provide site link & FTP credentials if you want me to update patch on your site.
2) Providing option past/future events on calendar does not make sense because events retrieved to show on calendar based on first day to last day of the month viewing on calendar. They are already filtered by dates of the current month viewing.
We keep your suggestion and will provide more options like filter by category, filter by tags etc if more customers suggests.Regards,
KiranAugust 29, 2019 at 2:22 pm #505549Hi Kiran,
Thank you for your feedback.
1) You’re welcome. Concerning the credentials, I will send them in a following private message.
2) The main issue is if the calendar is displayed on an archive/search page, where the events displayed in the list/grid can be filtered (e.g. displaying only a given subcategory, or only some events for the next N days/weeks/months, etc.), but the calendar still always displays all events, not corresponding to what the grid/list is displaying. The “generic” event calendar widget/shortcode is very useful to be shown in the main archive, or on the homepage, but it gets very confusing for the users when the calendar does not reflect what is displayed in the list/grid on the same page. If we take the map widget/shortcode as a counterexample, it reflects what is displayed on the archive, and it does not always display all posts (unless the corresponding option “Show all posts” is active).
I really hope that my suggestion will be implemented (preferrably sooner than later), in order to have a more intuitive browsing for the users. 😉
Kind regards,

2) We have considered your suggestion and opened a task to implement in future.
Thanks,
