November 28, 2019 at 5:41 pm #519048Hi, I am working on a new site nearyouhub.com that is intended to show users listings and other content based on their current location on the homepage, then other pages are specific to the location mentioned. Is is possible to have the listings sort by distance on the homepage and also the main map to zoom in on the user’s current location with nearby listings? November 28, 2019 at 6:11 pm #519051Hi seogoddess, Thanks for your message. If your users would like to search listings nearby, they will have to click on the “near” search box as explained here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/design/gd_search/#gd-search-visual-guide . Is this what you’re looking for? November 28, 2019 at 6:15 pm #519053No, I want all of the content to display as default by the user’s IP on the homepage. Also, the “near” search doesn’t work
https://nearyouhub.com/searchNovember 28, 2019 at 8:49 pm #519066GD with the Location Manager has the Near Me button, which will load the Location page centered on a lat lon with a radius search applied to show listings using the location page template. There is not a way to change that to make it happen on a different page. I checked your site but I don’t see a search page. Please share a link to where you see the issue, and wp admin credentials if we need to check the settings. November 28, 2019 at 10:49 pm #519091Here’s one of the search result pages: https://nearyouhub.com/near/type/points-of-interest/ I tried the “near” button on the homepage for a bit, and it wouldn’t work. What I would like, as a feature request, is to have a select number of listings sorted by the person’ IP as a default on the homepage when they land there https://nearyouhub.com – and the map to show zoomed in on the user’s location with listings in that area only. An example, is what my team did here: https://www.groupon.com/local/things-to-do (I manage the SEO Globally for Groupon) The category is “things to do” and all deals listed are based on the user’s IP so they only see deals in their area. I want the same for my homepage but no category specified, and then do with with category pages using your plugin. November 28, 2019 at 11:49 pm #519100You might have the search page set as a child page, with a parent page selected. Make sure it has no parent. Please share wp admin credentials if we need to check the settings. Unfortunately that feature is not available, but I have taken it up as a suggestion and the developers will consider it for future versions. Adjust it at GD – Settings – Search December 3, 2019 at 6:18 am #519677This reply has been marked as private.January 6, 2020 at 8:24 pm #524302I set to 200 and the pages slowed down considerably, so now it’s set to 20 miles. This page: https://nearyouhub.com/near/type/points-of-interest/
still shows random listings and not by the user’s IP.January 6, 2020 at 10:27 pm #524339Archive pages show listings in the category regardless of geolocation. Only search pages can show listings near the geolocation [not IP] of the visitor.
And the Near Me location page too [add the “GD > Near Me Button” widget].Thanks
