Hello, I would like to look into how the featured listings add-on will work. I have tried to register for a demo sandbox 4 times over the past week or so and have never received an email to gain access.
The featured listing on your demo homepage does not even link to a listing, which seems a bit strange. I’ve tried to add HTML into the photo link to create a link to the listing and it works, but the code isn’t saved into the widget, so each time I must replace the code for every photo/link that is displayed.
Thank you.
December 16, 2015 at 3:20 am #63990The possibility to feature listings is part of the Prices and Payments addon.
I don’t quite understand the rest of your post, sorry. I am not sure which demo featured listing you refer to, a link would assist.December 16, 2015 at 6:15 am #63998I am referring to your own demo, found here: http://wptry.it/try-geodirectory/
Even without the prices and payments add-on we can still use the Featured widget. We can manually populate it, but as I said, it just shows photos – why wouldn’t it link to the actual featured listing?
I would like to have a sandbox demo setup for me. On your demo site visitors have the option to have a demo site created to test out the plugin and it’s add ons, it requests for an email address and the login information is supposed to be sent – but like I said, I’ve tried to sign up 4 times and I have still not received any emails. I am told that this demo site offered by WPGeoDirectory gives people a chance to try out all the features of an add-on before we purchase.
Thank you.
December 16, 2015 at 6:55 am #64003The widget in the bottom right of the demo is the “GD > Listing Slider” widget, which is part of the core GD plugin.
If you tick “show title” the slider will include a clickable link.I have tested the activation emails and I directly received mine. Have you checked your spamboxes?
December 16, 2015 at 7:11 am #64006I have checked my spam boxes. I’ll try to register again. Thank you.
December 16, 2015 at 8:26 am #64010Hello again one more thing… So if the admin wants to feature certain listings without integrating it into a monetized system, it’s not possible?
December 16, 2015 at 5:40 pm #64080Hi,
you need to include the listing’s title to include also the listing’s link. It is a widget option.
I’ve just tested crating a sandbox twice with 2 different gmail accounts and it worked flawlessly both times. The email with the activation link comes from [email protected], please check if the email didn’t go directly into your spam folder.
If it isn’t there, please try whitelisting the address [email protected] within your account. Ultimately, please try an other email address.
Thanks
December 16, 2015 at 7:30 pm #64106Thanks @paolo. I was sending it to a GoDaddy email and they may have blocked it thinking that it was spam. I tried to a gmail address and it worked out just fine. However, even on the demo site it’s difficult to test out the upgraded listing function so I gave up.
But can you respond to my other question: If the admin wants to feature certain listings without integrating it into a monetized system, it’s not possible?
December 16, 2015 at 7:32 pm #64108You will still need the prices and payments add-on. At that point you will be able to create featured listings that are free of charge. It is not mandatory to use the payment system.
Thanks
