I just started working with GD last Saturday and with help of the forum and the documentation, I found my way around GDv1 quite quickly.

In one my requests for help I was advised to start using GDv2, which I did.

I now find that I got used to GDv1 quite quickly, but I am struggling with v2. It surprises me that after using v1 only for one day, I was already so used to it, and I have been wondering why I am not picking up v2 as fast.

In v2 I am constantly searching where I should go. The design of the v1 interface, I found much clearer. So perhaps that is the reason. Another reason could be that all the documentation features v1, and since things look different, perhaps that is the reason I am struggling.

In the blog post on the release of v2 https://wpgeodirectory.com/geodirectory-v2-release-candidate/ it discusses a wizard. I did not find such a wizard.

Anyhow, not really a request for support, but just wanting to give my feedback, as I am actually considering switching back to v1. It is easier to learn for newbies, I think.

You can find the wizard at GD > Settings > Help in the top right corner.
    The documentation is here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2
V1 will eventually be retired, and V2 has extra features.

    Thanks

It is now clear to me why I found v2 so very illogical.

The database conversion did not go as should, which meant I was missing the tab Custom Fields in Settings, resulting in things not fitting with documentation or solutions from Moderators, as well as causing errors and impossibilities.

It is like a cloud has been lifted.

So you are all good now? Just open a ticket when necessary.

I am all good Guust 🙂 Just didn´t understand why v1 was relatively easy to grasp and with v2 I felt like aliens had sucked out part of my brain because I was just not “getting it”.
