framework or child theme

    Hi I am new …first post. Just loaded GD onto site and getting familiar with it. I have a long way to go to get GD modified to my needs and to understand all the terms and navigation!

    So to start, which theme should I load? At the moment I have 2012 loaded which works. I will be making a directory of manufacturing and engineering businesses in an esoteric market. The directory will not be the only items on the site, so my initial thoughts are to locate GD on its own page.

    As I will be changing a lot of the front end fields, should I start with a child theme version?
