Hi,
I have looked over the forums for about an hour and cant seem to find my answer so I hope you can help me.
1. I have a relatively unique use for the directory as we use it as a threat index. We also provide clients with trackers (emergency locators). I would like to provide the client the ability to put in a grid coordinate and have it show on the map. This can be a stand alone page or map as it doesn’t have to be with the threat directory portion. I thought about simply embedding a Google Maps, however I cant figure out how to have the search bar display. Do you know can this be done with the directory core features, or do you have any reccomendations as to how to best accomplish this.

2. Is there any way to integrate front end user directions with the plugin. I would like the users to be able to put in addresses for directions and have the route display over our directory (in our case it would show them where various higher threat areas are they are passing through).

Hi Shame,

most likely both thing will need a customization and are not available out of the box, but I’m not 100% sure I understand either question correctly.

Could you please make an example of both things, possibly with screenshots? That will help understand and point you in the right direction.

Hi,
Thank you for the response. It is hard to convey, but I’ll try better. Im attaching two pics though I don’t know how much help they will be.

1.For one I essentially just want the ability for users on the front end to be able to utilize Google Maps Search function to get a location (the locations will not be of a listing we have, so the normal search function will not return a result). I know there are plugins that accomplish this as it is the same API the the directory runs on, but I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t something I could already do, and more importantly that running such a plugin wouldn’t cause a (known) conflict.

2. The one I expect to be more challenging is the ability for individuals to do driving directions like in the Google Maps image I’ve included and have the route display on my directory. So essentially adding a ‘Get Directions’ option on the sidebar or somewhere. I should note they wouldn’t be getting directions to a listing, but I would just want the listings to show on their route.
If this is a customization requirement is it something your team would be interested in tackling, and if so could we work together for a quote. Outside of the forum is fine as well.

This would require customization but could be done on existing maps.
It would not be exactly like the sidebar of the normal google maps search.
For example we have a directions on the details page map tab.
