Dear Members,
with the release of GD 1.3.6 the theme compatibility has been moved inside the core plugin.
All compatibility packs are now obsolete and it will be impossible to activate them with 1.3.6 installed.
With Avada though, there was also the GD child theme. That is obsolete too now.
Because Avada doesn’t provide all necessary hooks to create a fully working compatibility plugin though, we had to also create an header.php file that must be used inside a blank child theme.
You can find header.php to download in GD >> Theme Compatibility.
We apologize in advance for any inconveniences, but we hope this new Theme Compatibility approach will make it easier and faster to make any theme work nicely with GD, even when they don’t out of the box.
Thanks
February 3, 2015 at 1:35 am #29621Works well with Theme X Integrity. Thanks for the update.
Cheers
AjayFebruary 3, 2015 at 10:34 am #29664Guys,
ANyone using Avada should note… when you create a new child theme and activate it you will lose your menu (though you only have to re-assign it) and all widgets on your site including footer and side widgets…. they will become INACTIVE WIDGETS and will need to be re-instated.

February 3, 2015 at 3:39 pm #29727For avada u can still use the gd-child as long as u replace the header.php with one from core avada and make the changed described here: http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/avada-compatibility-header-php/
February 4, 2015 at 7:42 am #29873Same for Multinews Theme? Sorry for the question but I bought Multinews YESTERDAY and also stared using geodirectory …
February 4, 2015 at 9:20 am #29880Hi Stephen, no not as yet for multinews, we will build this into core for next release but i think it should work on for now, just let us know if u have any problems.
Thanks,
Stiofan
February 4, 2015 at 6:58 pm #30005I’m a little confused..
I’m using the Avada Theme and the GeoDirectory – Avada Starter Child theme.
I upgraded GD to the latest version, and everything seems to be working fine… Do I still need to follow the instructions here: http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/avada-compatibility-header-php/
or, is the GD – Avada child theme ok?Thanks –
DanFebruary 4, 2015 at 9:17 pm #30020I just re-read this thread, and the Avada compatibility document. I see now that I need to:
1. Replace the GD Avada Child Theme Header with the Avada header
2. Add the code to the header that is in the documentWhen I read this the first time, I just assumed that my site would be dead, since I hadn’t made these changes. It’s running fine as-is, but I’ll make the changes to make sure everything keeps running smoothly.
Thanks –

February 6, 2015 at 7:43 pm #30225This reply has been marked as private.February 6, 2015 at 9:20 pm #30236You should take the header.php Stiofan provided and simply replace with the one you have now. (rename the old one before uploading the new one, so if there is any problem you can always revert).
Between all of them Divi and Enfold would be my preferred, but to be honest with you, I think all this themes are a bit bloated with far too many options.
I prefer lightweight themes and I normally start from Automattic’s _s to create mines.
Thanks
February 8, 2015 at 7:01 am #30308Hey GD-Team,
I have updated to the current versions. I have updated the avada-theme to the current version, too.
I have done the following steps:1. Replacing the avada header.php with the old gd avada child header.php
2. I have replaced the code like it is discribed here http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/avada-compatibility-header-php/But the page isn’t showing the map and search fields before the avada main-content which I have configured in the widget areas. It seems that it isn’t showing the “avada_before_main”.
Thanks and best regards
February 8, 2015 at 9:20 pm #30352if the widgets are in the GD HOME TOP SECTION widget area , it wont show. the GD team has promised a fix soon. or you could send them your ftp credentials in a private message and they will look at it.
February 9, 2015 at 10:31 am #30374Please replace the attached file in your core GD in folder geodirectory-functions/compatibility/Avada.php
We will be releasing the fix probably tomorrow.
(also if you prefer u can post FTP details in private and we will replace the file for u)Thanks,
Stiofan
