GD as classified ads site ?

    Hi

    Just wondering is it possible to use GD as a classifieds website ?

    That would require something like a price tag on the listing and thats it really ?

    Hello,

    Yes, it’s pretty easy, just add a price custom field and set it to show in the listings page and the details page sidebar, make sure it’s a text (DECIMAL) and you will also be able to filter listing by price etc.

    Hello,

    it works great ! pops up on the listing page and sidebar too ! 🙂

    is there any way to make sure the user can only enter numbers and no letters allowed ? It is set to DECIMAL.

    You should not be able to submit it with letters, it should throw an error.

    nope…just tried again and i used a word for price and it went straight to preview page.

    can you please set up a custom field and send a screenshot what every field should be that i can copy ?

    sorry u are right, i think we left it out of decimal as there were so many options to valideate, in the setting under “validation patern” enter 

    ^d{0,12}(.d{1,2})?$

    Then under “validation message” enter an explanation, like “price without number symbol ie: 9.99”

    hi

    that did the trick works great ! also added an icon to it. Looks good now. I wanted to “re-start” my classifieds website but all to other app themes are super slow after a while.

    I realize that this directory is geography-driven, however, an exact address would seem troublesome for some classified ads. Is there a work-around for that?

    personally i have hidden the additional fields and all i got left is address+postcode : but if you simply type in london it will be london as is. no requirement for house specific address at all.

    i had a big classifieds website before and if you leave the option up to the user they are happy to mare it as specific as they want to.
