Dear members,
today we release a plugin that Stiofan started developing few months ago. Given that it was almost ready and we think it could be useful for many, we decided to take the time to finish it and release it today in BETA for you to test.
WHAT DOES THE PLUGIN ALLOW YOU TO DO?
This plugin will allow your customers to import their business or event from facebook by simply entering the facebook page or event url in the dedicated field of the add listing form and clicking import (frontend only)
Your users can also import business listings from Yelp (yelp does not have an api for events yet)
You can also connect a facebook page that you manage to allow new listing to be posted to your facebook page.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO
Facebook:
#1 create a facebook app, under Setting > App Domains, enter your website domain, example: site.com
#2 Again under app setting click “add platform” and select “Website” and enter your website domain, example: http://site.com/
NOTE: When connecting facebook to the addon it may give a warning saying some access features need to be reviewed by facebook first, you can ignore this, this does not need to be done as only your own facebook account will be using these features not users.
Yelp:
#1 Create an account and then go here: http://www.yelp.co.uk/developers/manage_api_keys
You should have all the info you need for the addon now.
TRANSLATION
In the plugin you will find the .po file for translation, you shoudl use this to create your .mo file and upload that to here: /wp-content/languages/geodir_socialimporter/geodir_socialimporter-en_US.mo
Plugin attached to this topc. Don’t forget to report bugs.
We hope you enjoy it! Thx
The Team

November 3, 2014 at 8:42 pm #20442Hi
I love this plugin. I have starting testing it and I tried with both places and events. The first thing I noticed is that the description is never filled up.So that will be the first thing to look up. Is it filled up for anybody else?
Thanks in advane

November 5, 2014 at 7:03 pm #20720Hi,
did you do this part?
Are you able to import events and pages?
If yes, we will need a URL and wp admin credentials to have a look.
Let us know,
Thx

November 7, 2014 at 10:04 am #20911Thanks, it works with facebook.
The button “Import Details” does not look like a button. 🙂 Maybe add something like that: Import Details
November 7, 2014 at 10:08 am #20912Would it be possible to add not only a page or event, but also personal pages? Like this: https://www.facebook.com/vadim.barsukov/about
November 7, 2014 at 10:19 am #20914import details looks like a button for me? Got a link to ur site?
I’m not sure exactly what you are asking in your second question?

My site is in development, so I can not give you a link. See attached screenshot please.
I’m not sure exactly what you are asking in your second question?
I wanted to ask: is it possible to import a facebook personal page? Or we can import the data from the facebook pages/events only?
For example: These pages are imported good. https://www.facebook.com/EcppEkaterinburg or https://www.facebook.com/events/277337615798844/
I tried to import data from my personal facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/vadim.barsukov/) and got an error: Someting went wrong[111]
November 7, 2014 at 12:05 pm #20928I lost all the media files on my test site. 🙁 Not sure what it is your plugin fault, but …
That’s how it was: I import data from Facebook page into a new listing on my website. Facebook message appears about this wonderful event. I admire it and decided to remove this facebook message. 🙂
My site deleted all the multimedia files except one – the first photo attached to the listing.
(Sorry for my terrible English. 🙂November 7, 2014 at 12:24 pm #20933#1 ok what theme are u using, it probably just needs a class added to it to make it act like the other buttons in your theme.
#2 no you can’t import personal pages.
#3 i am not sure what you mean?
