You need to add geo-targeting to this program so when a user logs in they see what’s around them for x miles but also to have the availability to enter a city and state as well.
If you could incorporate a program like Covert Geo Targeter that probably would fix the problem. I use this program on all other web sites works like a dream.

Geo Targeting is included in the Advance search addon.
Once you installed the Advanced Search plugin, you will find the GeoLocation Settings at

GD > Advanced Search
