GeoDirectory Places not Indexed by Google

    Hello,

    I am writing because I am not understanding why the places I have uploaded to my GD directory are not being indexed by Google. I have the Yoast SEO plugin installed but whether I let it perform the SEO or select the option to overwrite Yoast, I cannot locate my places pages when searching thru Google.

    Can someone please explain why or let me know what I’m doing wrong.

    Hi creAssetz,

    Are you using the Google Webmaster tools for your Website? If you haven’t, I’d suggest that you use that tool for indexing purposes and also, you have to give Google some time to crawl your Website. It doesn’t really happen immediately and also, we do not have control of how or when Google indexes your Website.

    Thanks for your reply. The site has been up since mid August. I can see on the Google Webmasters Console that all of my pages have been submitted via Sitemap but 4 of 46 or so have been indexed. GD doesn’t create ‘pages’ when you enter items in the directory, BD directory does. Thus I was wondering if I needed to change a setting within GD so that the 42 or so places I’ve entered will also be indexed. For me it defeats the purpose of having the database if the places don’t show up in web searches. Appreciate your feedback.

    Hello,

    It depends on many factors on how long it will take for your site to show and where they will show, it might be you are on page 123, if you post a link to your site and an example of a listing not showing i will check there is nothing blocking it but my guess is it just will take time.
