Hey everyone,

I’m creating a new directory with only one type of business – Law Firms. They’ll all be in the same category, practicing one type of law.

I’ve already adjusted the V2 “Places” CPT to be “Firms”.

How can I configure GeoDirectory V2 to bypass the “Category” functionality?

Ideally, I’d like my site to have the following architecture:

Firm Archive:

/firms/
```
State Archive:
```
/firms/{state}/
```
City Archive:
```
/firms/{state}/{city}/
```
I do not want the “Category” in the architecture.

Separate and less important question – how difficult is it to convert the State step of the architecture from the full name (California) to the two-letter shortcode (CA)?

Category is required, so, you could set category as a select field, and then just create one category to be applied to all listings.

The options on the permalinks page are specific to the detail page, so you can create a URL structure like you mentioned /firm/state/city/post-name/

Category will still be included on archive pages. You can remove category from the display so that users do not end up on those pages.

2. CA vs California

This depends on what data is being returned by the Map API. If it returns California, then you will need to use the options in the Locations tab to maintain the regions.
