I suddenly started getting an error whenever I click on the Geodirectory link in the left sidebar. Error reads “Geocode was not successful for the following reason: ZERO_RESULTS”. I searched support and all I could find was to reset my current location in the browser, but I did not change any settings there. It is currently set to Everywhere.

Not sure why this started happening. Creds to follow if you need to login and take a look.

    Thanks,
    Joel

    Hi Joel,

    your locations are a mess.

You set “Everyone, Everywhere, Anywhere” as default location, while you MUST have only real locations (that Google Maps can recognize) within the database.

The everywhere location is virtually created by the system by showing all listings from all locations.

Other than having that error, you have locations like:

    all, all, Australia
    all, all, United States
Division No. 18, Unorganized, Saskatchewan, Canada
    Prague, all, Czechia
nevyli, tamilnadu, India (here lat and lon are wrong)

Correct all that and the problem should go away.

    Thanks

Understood and I will clean up the odd locations, especially since they don’t have any listings associated with them. Not sure how they got in there.

Regarding the Everyone, Everywhere, Anywhere location. If this is causing an issue then I need to know the best way to assign a default address of “nowhere” to a listing since there are Online Only listings that do not have a physical address. I have had difficulty with this and do not understand why there is not more dev work in the backend to accommodate online business that do not want to list an address.

What do you suggest I do for this use case?

    Thanks

You can’t mix listings with and without address. For listings without address, you need a separate custom post type for locationless listings. The cpt add-on has options to disable location fields from selected cpt.

    Thanks

Already using CPT’s as primary categories since there is only category / subcategory. It doesn’t make sense from a directory perspective to separate two people who offer the same service where one is online only and the other is online and has brick & mortar, especially in today’s marketplace.

I was able to create an “Online Only” checkbox that hides the address fields when entering a listing. Therefore, I would assume there is a way to create a “dummy” address that will work for those listings that do not care to put in an address. If there is not a way to handle this, then I would suggest that you look at this since forcing addresses on online businesses is a bit antiquated.

Let me know. Meantime I guess I will just live with the error. I did clean up the other invalid addresses (except for Everyone, Everywhere, Anywhere) per your recommendation but that did not resolve the error.

    Thanks.
