getting Gateway Timeout error when trying to activate latest addons

after uploading through wp-admin, installing, then clicking to activate the latest addons, for some of them i’m getting the following error:

Gateway Time-out
The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.

i then check the plugins list, and the plugin is active there

Which of them? Without knowing which add-on are causing problems, there is no way to fix those problems (assuming they are coming from the add-ons and not the server)…
