    Hi,
I’m using GD version 2 and trying to import a bunch of Australian listings. I am not using google maps, I’m using open street maps. The import list contains address but not latitude or longitude details. When trying to import, I am getting the error “Google Geocode Failed”. Should I be getting this if I am using OSM instead of Google maps? Also, could this have something to do with trying to import Australian addresses? I’m entering the suburb details into the City column when importing. I notice that when I try to add a listing via the add listing form, the city value populates with something other than the suburb. How can I successfully import listings using Australian addresses and OSM?

    Hi Angela,

Thanks for your post. Kindly share your Website WP admin access here in private reply along with the CSV file that you’re trying to import. Please zip the CSV file before it could be attached to your next reply.

    Hi Angela,

Google Geocode API is not working with API Key which are restricted by HTTP Referrer. We have added new option under GeoDirectory > Settings > General to add API Key for Geocode service. If main API Key has HTTP Referrer restriction added then it must have separate API Key wihout HTTP Referrer restriction for Geocode service.

We have released v2.0.0.64 please update and let us know how it goes.

Okay, I thought that Geodirectory used the maps API of my choice, i.e. open street maps in my case, to geocode listing addresses during a listing import? I was hoping to avoid having to generate a google api and the associated account and billing. Does generating an API Key for the geocode service have a similar billing impact as generating a google api key for google maps?
And does this solution mean that I can enter the correct suburb details for Australian addresses instead of it defaulting to regions?
    Can you provide further explanation?

Google has a very standardized approach to geocoding and we would recommend it’s usage for something like importing listings, but, the new key field was only added to be use din cases where the main api key is restricted, so, other functions are not lost by this addition.

The new field does not change functions like the api provider’s database of cities or suburbs.
