Google Map on listing page completely gray, but not in sticky popup

I am using Version 1.6.8 of the core plugin.

On a detail page of a listing in the directory, by default there is a map on the right side.
I have registered and entered the correct API keys, and the Google Maps API loads without issues on the page.

The map is completely gray, and the symbols on the zoom buttons do not load properly, as you can see in the attatched picture. The sticky map that pops up while scrolling seems to be working as it displays the map.

I am suspecting an issue with CSS because the symbols of the zoom buttons do not load properly, but I have not been able to figure out what causes it.

I have read a lot of other posts about gray maps, but none of them had the same problem as me and their solutions have not worked for me, so I am hoping that someone here might have a clue to what is going on.
