To start, please know I have attempted to contact Google regarding this issue, as has my client for the last several years. My client is located in Telluride, CO which only has ONE zip code. The Zip for Telluride is 81435. There is an ERROR in Google’s Data where it is showing the zip code for Telluride as 81320. This is causing conflicts when when a person is attempting to create a directory listing or set their address on the map, Geo Directory kicks back an error stating they need to pick an address within Telluride only (we have it set for one city) OR it automatically changes the zip code to 81320. This is a known issue whether you are using Air BnB or WP Geo Directory to set an address on the map. I will provide you with some examples and screen shots.
old_zip_example.jpg – this is an example of a business in Google Maps that is showing the INCORRECT zip code as I can only assume they were forced into using the incorrect data when they set up their account. There were at least 2 dozen or so other businesses in Telluride using the wrong zip code but I reported the errors/submitted and update with the new zip for each business and Google published the corrections. This was a few weeks ago.
Please see sunshine_zip.jpeg. Note the marker on the map. Also note the address has the correct zip code. Now look at 324_west_colorado.jpg. This is RIGHT ACROSS THE street and using the incorrect 81320 zip code.
Our default location within GD is set to Telluride BUT because GOOGLE has an incorrect zip code associated with the town (81320), whenever you input an address for Telluride and choose “Set Area on Map”, the system reverts the zip code to 81320. Please see attached images before and after – screenshots taken before I hit the button and after.
It’s also causing an issue with the long latitude below. An error pops up after you hit set address on map: “A numeric value is required. Please make sure you have either dragged the marker or clicked the button: Set Address On Map”
I desperately need assistance with this. I’m assuming someone at your organization might have access to someone at Google that can resolve this issue and allow for an address to be input/set on the map using 81435. Otherwise, it’s going to cause MAJOR issues with our directory.
Your assistance and guidance is greatly appreciated.
