The most awesum plugin ever!
However…
There appear to be some layout issues with my install. I would like to request some help – please see my screen cap for reference:
1. How do I remove the Popular Categories section?
2. How do I get the map to extend the width of the page?Using Firebug I can see the map has an element width: 940px; but the containing DIV (stick_trigger_container) and my page are 1150px.

THEME – ROCKETTHEMETHANKS!
August 12, 2014 at 10:39 pm #11799Hello, you can remove the popular categories from the widget section (Gd home top section) and remove the popular categories widget. In the same section, set the width for the map, you can also use % rather than px, so you can set 100% to have a full width map
August 14, 2014 at 2:32 am #11991Simone I can’t do that – by default GD created a page called Locations and I see no way to modify the Widgets on it. Apparently Locations takes the place of Homepage since I decided not to have GD as my homepage.
I’m assuming I can instead create a new page and add widgets to it that make up a different layout – there’s no requirement to use the Locations page, correct?
August 14, 2014 at 2:59 am #11994GD Home is the home of ALL your locations.
You decide what is your home page at GD > Design > Home. Choose to use GD or not.
“Location” is not a page, but a virtual template that should NOT be touched. You can create a new page, but only if you don’t want that page to have any locations or listings.

http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/widgets/ ( in progress )August 14, 2014 at 2:02 pm #12058Okay I’m understanding how this works however your statement – “Location” is not a page, but a virtual template that should be touched.” has me confused.
And your fist ‘docs’ link is showing as “Sorry, but the page you were trying to view does not exist.”
August 14, 2014 at 9:18 pm #12099Oops, I was replying from my mobile phone yesterday, I corrected that post now:
I meant
“Location” is not a page, but a virtual template that should NOT be touched.”And the other link was double paste:
http://docs.wpgeodirectory.com/layout/Sorry for the confusion.
August 15, 2014 at 3:03 am #12125Good resources – thank you!
August 15, 2014 at 3:45 am #12128I just got stuck – in the beginning I had to set a default location, which I set as Los Angeles.
Now when I try to create a new Place I get the following pop-up:
“Please choose any address of the (Los Angeles) city only.”
Not sure how to proceed because I need to set locations throughout the United States.
August 15, 2014 at 4:29 am #12129You’ll need to purchase the multi-location add-on, the free version of GD is for one city only.
August 15, 2014 at 5:29 am #12130Whoa I obviously did not know that. My fault for not doing more research prior to install. I just checked the pricing and it looks like I can expect out-of-pocket @ least $90 for the whole country plus Paypal.
Sooo, and with all due respect to the devs, what’s to convince me to spend almost 3 times more than something like SabaiDirectory, which already has these features and probably more?
AND why do I have to keep using CAPTCHA to post comments???
August 15, 2014 at 5:21 pm #12170Hi,
you’d spend $90 only if buying the addons individually on theme tailors.
Subscribing to one of the membership plans would allow you to get all addons and themes for a much lower price.
If sabai provides everything you need, probably it is wise to buy it that instead.
Personally I think that our price is more than justified comparing the 2 plugins, but as I said it is my personal opinion.
Captcha are used to avoid spammer invading our forum, given that anyone can register and submit topics/replies.
Once you become a member, the captcha disappear.
Thank you
August 15, 2014 at 6:46 pm #12181Okay fair enough and I appreciate the no crap reasoning.
With that mentioned, I’ve started to implement GD on a development site however no matter what I do the map will not align-center.
I created a new page to place just the widgets I want;
GD>GMap – Home page
GD > Search
GD > Listing SliderI can see a DIV ID (sticky_map_geodir_map_v3_home_map_30002) within the widget. I applied a style text-align:center, made sure the map is a narrow enough width to fit (1150px) within the parent DIV (1150px). But it still aligns left.
The other two widgets, Search & Slider align center and fill the DIV width fine – both are inside the same DIV as the map.
What am I doing wrong???
August 15, 2014 at 6:54 pm #12184Hi,
can you please send us a link in a private reply and wp admin credentials?
There shouldn’t be need for any css to center the map. Actually if you go to Appearance >> widgets and select the GD Gmap Home widget and put 100% as width, it should make it span correctly.
Let us know.
August 15, 2014 at 7:04 pm #12185Dang that was it! You are a good man thank you.
One last question for the moment – I don’t need ratings or comments whatsoever. Am I correct in assuming I need to display:none the metadata at the bottom of each location’s map pop-up or is there a switch in the GD settings?
August 15, 2014 at 7:38 pm #12190No need for css here either. Just close comments in WordPress Settings >> discussion.
For all listings you created, you’ll need to close comments individually for each place.
If you go to Places and click quick edit on any of them, you should see an option to disable comments.
Once that done, every refernce to reviews should become hidden.
Let me know.
Thx
