Please allow us to tackle the issues one at a time.
Is there a problem with the front page?
Please specify the issue and grant us access to the site so we can take a look.
January 16, 2020 at 12:44 pm #525970I don’t know what else to do here. I can’t figure out how to fix the extreme security feature that was inadvertently turned on and I can’t find any support from the plugin about it.
I think I changed the settings.
I also can’t delete my security plugin out of fear of being hacked given the number of attacks it’s already reported from bots and humans from around the globe.
It should be perfectly safe to turn off WordFence especially if your site is in construction mode.
I don’t like Gutenberg editor. I’ve already familiarized myself with elementor. The confusion isn’t with HOW to use the editor or shortcode builder, it’s in what the shortcodes/widgets functions actually are because many of the descriptions aren’t clear and/or do not have pictures to go along with them to show what it is or does.
Many users set up a bit of a test site and just experiment with the shortcodes/widgets. That is the best way to learn.
You can see a short description of the widgets at Appearance > Widgets, see image 1.
Similarly for the shortcodes, see image 4.
I’ve already paid for the Avada theme – which you advertise as one to use to create an AirBnB like site… Was this false advertising???
Here is an example of someone who had built her site with Avada and GD:
https://thelocaldish.com/“DO NOT set the WP Front Page to the GeoDirectory V2 Location page or Search page. Doing so will break search and other GeoDirectory functionality.” is not enough information for a non-developer. What does that mean??? Set it where???
The warning at https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/getting-started/front/ refers to
GD > Settings > General tab > Pages sub-tab > Location page [see image 1]”I feel like I’m talking to a brick wall. Is there a huge language barrier here or something because I’ve repeated my question more than once and you still aren’t understanding me or answering me. “WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? SET IT WHERE???” was not answered! I’ve read that page about the front page and the warning therein. What you aren’t answering is WHY!!!! I need to understand EXACTLY what not to do and WHY in order to feel that I completely understand and won’t fear breaking my site by making any particular adjustments. I don’t want to wait until I break my site to get assistance because it’s very clear that trying to get your assistance is like pulling teeth – it’s very painful!!!
You cannot break your site that easily, all that would happen is that some pages or functions do not work, and then you just ask for help, or reverse what you did.
“WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? SET IT WHERE???”
It means that the GD search function no longer will work correctly, in other words, if you set the frontpage of your site as the GD location page, then when a visitor uses the search bar, the results will not be correct. You set the frontpage at WP Settings > Reading > Your homepage displays
See image 2You set the GD Location page at
GD > Settings > General tab > Pages sub-tab > Location page [see image 3]I seriously want to cry… Is there anyone I can actually talk to in order to figure this all out because this back and forth via forum is getting nowhere.
Sorry, but we provide Support Services only through our Support Forums.
See https://wpgeodirectory.com/support-policy/Now that we can see your site again, the “odd lines” are borders, which have been added in the “GD Avada Archive Item 1” page, so that border will be added to each archive item on a Listings page like …./places/.
Use the page builder you are using to delete the borders if you like.Like Alex says, try keeping your questions about as small a problem as possible, include URLs and images where possible.
Thanks
