First, it would be nice to be able to find your own posts. I believe I posted this question several years ago when I was working on a different site, but now I can’t find my posts. Second, it would be nice to have a much better search by topic. My question is pretty simple but searching just brought up a number of private posts. Not much use to that.
I’ve finally managed to get my Business Directory to bring up a GD Home Page, but I still want my site’s Main Menu to show on the top and I’d like the GeoDirectory to look like the rest of my site. I’ve bought the whole enchilada back at your Xmas pricing so I want to make full use of the plugin.
Site is – http://ajijictoday.com/locations/
Appreciate any help.

There is something breaking your permalinks.
This page: http://ajijictoday.com/location/ajijic/
should be http://ajijictoday.com/location/mexico/jalisco/ajijic/I am guessing there is a conflict with one of your other plugins, so try de-activating them and resaving your WP permalinks until you find the problem.
It may be your Landing Pages or Calls to Action plugins.I added a page with all links to your GD pages at http://ajijictoday.com/aaa/ do it is easier to see where all your GD pages are.
Thanks
March 3, 2018 at 2:38 pm #420113Well, now I am really confused. The home page was starting to look correct; however, the theme was being destroyed so there was no header and no main menu. Not sure what you did, but now everything looks great on http://ajijictoday.com/locations/. Thanks!
The only change I would like to make is to create a different Avada menu for the GeoDirectory, replacing the main menu except for a homepage item.
March 3, 2018 at 8:06 pm #420137Just when I think I am making progress, a setback. I wanted the categories to show under the map, as you had done, but couldn’t figure out how to add a shortcode, so I added the widget. Great, except the background is transparent. I didn’t change anything and even when I went into the Avada options and added a solid background nothing changed. ??
Another confusing issue is that I add the widget CPT Categories and it saves like that but then changes to Popular Post Category. ??
As always, appreciate your help.

I deleted and re-created that page to get rid of all the settings added by other plugins and page builders etc.The only change I would like to make is to create a different Avada menu for the GeoDirectory, replacing the main menu except for a homepage item.
I guess Avada should be able to help with that. GD uses the menu designated by the theme.I added this CSS at GD > Design > Scripts:
#geodir_cpt_categories_widget-2 {background: white}
I don’t understand Avada’s widget options, maybe ask the Avada developers?
Another confusing issue is that I add the widget CPT Categories and it saves like that but then changes to Popular Post Category. ??
I only see the CPT Categories widget on the /locations/ page … Can you explain a bit more? Thanks
March 4, 2018 at 2:02 pm #420239I believe Avada uses the basic WordPress menus. You create other menus and then assign them when you create the page. If you look at the Real Estate section you’ll see what I mean. As far as I understand GeoDirectory there isn’t a menu option anywhere.
On the background issue Avada has options on widgets. I didn’t choose anything but the background came up as transparent. I then went into the options and changed the background color to white and added a border. Although the border showed up, the background was still transparent. GeoDirectory is compatible with Avada and this would seem to be a minor issue where the options set work except the background.
When I add the CPT Categories widget it shows as that when I save it; however, when I come back to the widgets the CPT Categories is showing as an unused widget and the CPT Categories has changed to Popular Post Categories:Categories. After I deleted it and reinstalled it it didn’t change.
March 4, 2018 at 10:21 pm #420254Seems it is not an Avada issue, but a Menu Swapper plugin issue.
In GD V2 you should be able to use that Menu Swapper on every GD page too, as far as I know.
I’ll get Stiofan to confirm.
ThanksMarch 4, 2018 at 10:25 pm #420255This reply has been marked as private.March 5, 2018 at 12:12 pm #420349@guust, yes that will work in GDv2.

March 5, 2018 at 2:39 pm #420368When you first responded you created another /locations page using shortcodes. If I create a new home page for the GeoDirectory I can keep all the theme options plus I can use the Business Directory menu. If I can then use shortcodes to duplicate the existing /locations page that would be awesome. The only issue then would be how I keep the Business Directory menu on the listings.
I might also menu that I went into the Avada widget options and added padding so that the categories weren’t tight up against the page and this worked, as did the borders. The only issue not working is setting the background color.
I also asked Avada support some of the questions; but as I suspected they said they do not support 3rd party plugins.
As always, appreciate your help.
March 5, 2018 at 6:21 pm #420407A follow-up to my earlier post. I created a new page attempting to use short codes and the normal page setup using Avada and had success!
http://ajijictoday.com/business-directory/
A couple of small changes I would like to make. I don’t want to show the “places” title. And the services listing would be much better in two side by side columns. I don’t know if this is possible.
Appreciate your help.
March 5, 2018 at 9:56 pm #420427“When you first responded you created another /locations page using shortcodes.”
Not quite correct, there are no shortcodes in that page, that is WP page that should not be edited. You can create any WP page using shortcodes and use it as if it is a directory home page. But do NOT select that page at GD > Permalinks > GD Home page. Just select some unused page there or /locations/.
“I also asked Avada support some of the questions;”
The issue is with the Menu Swapper plugin, that is not Avada.
But strange that they do not support their own widget options. To hide the Places title, use this CSS:
.gd-cptcat-row .gd-cptcat-title { display: none; }
Thanks
March 6, 2018 at 3:46 pm #420530Thank you for your excellent help. The only issue I have left is showing the GeoDirectory menu on the pages. Following the earlier thread this will work with the new version?
March 6, 2018 at 9:39 pm #420575Yes, that is correct. Thanks
