How to delete custom fields from place listing?

We have moved to a support ticketing system and our forums are now closed.

    Places>>>settings>>>custom fields

    List on right side of page: “List of fields that will appear on add new Place listing form”

    Why can’t I chose to remove any of the preset listing fields? Do I have to leave them there, but uncheck the “is active box”?

    Several are required, like title, category and address. Tags can be marked admin only, that will hide the field from other non-admin users.
