Hi There,
Thanks so much for your support so fare …. my site it getting on. ๐
However I can figure out the video option in Places.
I want my customers to be able to put in a video on there place/page.
However I have played a bit with it at can’t figure it out. Can you help?
Hvad code or Url are the customer supposed to add in the field in the attached picture?
For further updates… maybe make it more clear in the description below the field the customer is filling in… ๐
September 12, 2016 at 11:06 am #264692Hi Lars,
Unfortunately, you can’t just the URL of the video but instead, you have to insert the Youtube Video embed code into the custom field provided. For example, copy the video iframe/embed code from Youtube http://prntscr.com/bswb0b and paste it into the textbox. Example iframe code below. Let us know how it goes.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/USLTQVt8QyA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>September 12, 2016 at 2:27 pm #264837Thanks Kor Chung… I got it now…
However…. I don’t feel that I can expect my customers to figure that out…. I know they would not be able to.
Why haven’t GD made it so that customer just insert the standard share text from youtube?
e.g. https://youtu.be/iiIfMU6zHrc?This is a killer to figure out for regular customers. ๐
Best regards Lars
September 12, 2016 at 4:20 pm #264935OR at least tell the customers which code to put in.. so that they can just copy and paste it… and tell them what share link til put in.
Just like you told me above… that was good and understandable info. ๐
September 12, 2016 at 6:13 pm #265004Hi,
YouTube provides a code to embed videos. Sharing a link will share a link.
If you go to GD >> Place Settings and you double click on the video field you can change the frontend description that currently say : “Add video code here, YouTube etc” (even though it already say video code, not link…)
Thanks
September 13, 2016 at 7:04 am #265254ok… super Paolo. Thanks ๐
September 13, 2016 at 9:49 am #265289Hi Paolo.
I’m just testing this now… and for some reason it’s not working.
When I embed the code from youtube… and hit preview… an almost blank page comes up… but if I go back and delete the embed code and then hit preview… all is good… but of course without the video… what to do? ๐

that’s probably a server security rule blocking iframes. In all cases we’ve seen, only their server admin could fix that.
Please see: https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/search/?bbp_search=iframe+security+server
Let us know how you went.
Thanks

I have replaced the video preview with a placeholder, this change will be in the next release or you can use or dev version from git: https://github.com/GeoDirectory/geodirectory
Thanks,
