Hello!
So I noticed that the details page and others can’t not be edited on the front-end with a page-builder, so I was wondering if there was any method to place some of the details side-by-side instead of all of them simply being listed vertically as a list on a page?
For example: Move my “contact” button from the bottom of my details page (its currently the last shortcode) to the right of gd output location shortcode that shows the contact information. It just seems like a huge waste of space as it is currently. With beaver builder I could easily create blocks for each shortcode and spread things out a little.
What are my options with this? Is there another plugin i could use in addition to bb that would work?
Thanks!
December 4, 2018 at 1:55 pm #457073Use a page builder in the backend?
December 4, 2018 at 3:09 pm #457087Yeah, is there one that would work like that? I was also thinking maybe I could design the page in bb then somehow copy the html code, then copy and paste it into the text editor….maybe… IDK 😛
I think page builder by siteorigin may work, but I remember a thread long ago where it was not recommended to use it so I was wondering if there was a preferred option for this type of thing.
December 4, 2018 at 3:22 pm #457089FYI: I just tried page builder by siteorigin and it didn’t work. 1/2 the shortcodes didn’t even show up, and there were shortcodes that populated themselves without me even setting them lol. Like for example the reviews were not showing, but when I moved to the page builders all of a sudden reviews showed up, but no address or anything else. Weird….definitely uninstalling it.
December 4, 2018 at 4:02 pm #457093You know what. Never mind about this. I’ll just use the sidebar like everyone else.
December 4, 2018 at 4:18 pm #457099BB should work on the GD Template pages. So should SiteOrigin for that matter. We aim to make them work and though we are a bit backed up right now we will eventually get them all working.
December 4, 2018 at 4:23 pm #457100Ah ok. I guess then the details page isn’t working yet. Good to know it’s being added though, thanks!
December 4, 2018 at 5:06 pm #457104You have tried editing the GD Details page with BB?
If you are just trying to do a layout with BB you can do it using another page as a row, save it, then add it to the details page.
December 4, 2018 at 5:19 pm #457108Yeah. If you try to edit it using bb you get the error message “Sorry, this is a page template and can not be accessed from the frontend, it is used for building the layouts of GeoDirectory sections.”
If you are just trying to do a layout with BB you can do it using another page as a row, save it, then add it to the details page.
You mean create a layout in bb, then copy the html into the text editor?
December 4, 2018 at 5:39 pm #457114Another way:
Open the CPT Settings – Advanced – and choose a different (temporary) page for the GD Details page.
Open the original GD Details Page with BB, Edit as needed, Save and Publish.
Open the CPT Settings – Advanced – and choose the original GD Details page (again)December 4, 2018 at 7:31 pm #457137This reply has been marked as private.December 4, 2018 at 7:39 pm #457142The shortcodes won’t display values but you can do a layout.
Once the GD Details page is unset it will render like any other page, but you can only see the values once it is set again as the template for the CPT.
December 4, 2018 at 7:42 pm #457143I’m just not smart enough 😛 I’ll just use the sidebar hahaha Thanks anyway really appreciate the help!
