    Hi, I have a listing directory by the name of http://www.partycoop.com.
    I have 6 categories (Venues, Photography, Catering, Entertainment, Other and Event Planner).

    Only five popular categories appear under the search box. So Event Planner does not appear there, since it is the last category I added. I would like to remove the “Venues” category from the popular categories and instead use “Event Planner” in its place. How do I do that?

    Thank you.

    You can show all 6 if you like, see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/faqs/how-do-i-remove-the-popular-categories-section-from-the-home-page/
    Just change 5 to 6 there.

    The first 5 categories are not the ones you added first, but the most popular ones, meaning the categories with most listings.

    Anything else would need some custom coding.

    Thanks

    Thank you. I see, this requires modifying the “category_limit” at geodirectory-compatibility.php.

    I was told before that I should not be changing any .PHP files because new updates could overwrite them and my changes would go away. I was told to use the “Snippet” add in instead.

    How would you do this change with “Snippets”? I aleady have snippets installed for other changes.

    How do I do below code change in “Snippets”?
    echo do_shortcode(‘[gd_popular_post_category category_limit=6]’);

    Thank you.

    The only way to do it is to edit the child theme directly, it isn’t possible to do that with a snippet.

    To avoid updates in the future you can modify the child theme. Here are a few solutions for that. This is not recommended, but it is possible. See: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/24123059/how-to-disable-theme-updates-on-wordpress-to-avoid-losing-my-changes
