    Hello,

I would like to have a field for a single specific image that could open in a lightbox.

I have tried the Textarea and the HTML fields.

In Textarea field settings I ticked “Show advanced editor” and “Embed media URLs” checkboxes, but the advanced editor did not show neither the “Add media” button in the Add Listing GD page nor in the WP backend page editor.

In HTML field settings I ticked “Embed media URLs” checkbox, but the “Add media” button did not show in the Add Listing GD page nor in the WP backend page editor.

How can I setup a field for an specific image?

Could the image be opened in a lightbox?

How could I get what I am looking for?

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Best regards.

    Hi,

Use the “file input” custom field, you can set this to images only and can limit it to 1 image if u want, you can then use the post_meta widget to show it where you want, it will auto open in a lightbox.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Hi Stiofan,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I do not want it to auto open in a lightbox, but to open in a lightbox only on click. Is it possible?

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Best regards.

    Hi Stiofan,

    I have just checked here:

    https://inforoses.com/menjar-i-beure/a-taula/the-newport-gastrobar/

The image appears in low resolution but in big size. Clicking on it shows it in a lightbox in the same size but in the original resolution.

I think it should show first in small size. Is it possible?

In any case, I would prefer to use a Textarea of a HTML field since I need to add text and shortcodes together with the image. Is there any way to do it? Why the “Add media” button does not show?

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Best regards.

    Hello,

GD Listing fields don’t display the Add Media button, and adding it is a customization.

GD Post Meta and GD Post Images -> Images will expand to the size of the container. You will need to create custom CSS to size it the way you want. Here is an example to get you started to show the image small.

    #wpapps-sd .geodir_post_meta.geodir-field-tapa_ruta_tapes_2019 {
        max-width: 45px;
    }

    Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for your reply.

The “Add media” button in GD listings field is another functionality that I used in GD V1. To be frank, by now GD V2 is being really frustrating just trying to have what I had with GD V1.

At least I would need to have a GD listing field with rich text and one image, like I had with the HTML field with GD V1. Is there some simple way to get it without customization?

By the way, using the File upload field to load a single image has an strange behaviour, as you can see in the enclosed screenshots:

    1) After uploading the image, its miniature appears correctly in the upload window.
    2) Then I edit Title and Caption.
    3) Then the miniature disappears and two document icons are shown in the upload window.
    4) After updating the page, only one document icon in shown in the upload window.
    5) Caption is cut to a few words.

Is there a lenght limit for the caption text? Can it be changed?

Also, the title and caption are displayed only when hovering the image in the lightbox. Is there some way to keep them always visible?

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much once again for your help.

    Best regards.

    Hello,

I have just discovered that the caption text is cut after a comma. If I do not use commas in it, the caption text is not cut.

How could I use commas in the caption text?

I look forward to your news.

Thank you very much once again for your help.

    Best regards.

    Hello again,

By the way, if the “Add media” button is disabled, then which is the purpose of the “Embed media URLs” checkbox? How media is added?

I look forward to your news.

Thank you very much once again for your help.

    Best regards.

We don’t have workarounds for the Add Media button. From our perspective it is a security issue to keep visitors out of the media library and focus on the front end post/edit experience.

Embed URLs means to render video URLs like a youtube URL, to show that as a video.

We have a task to work on commas in captions and will provide an update once this is complete.

    Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I can certainly understand the need to improve security in a newer version. However, I believe that, from a marketing perspective, since there is a version currently used by thousands of users, some security decissions that prevent an smooth transition from GD V1 to GD V2 conversion, like removing the “Add media” button, should be left as an option to decide by the user under his own criteria and would require as well a detailed explanation with examples and references. After all, I believe that the “Add media” button is something that most WordPress users simply expect to find where it has always been.

In any case, I honestly believe that your technical approach for GD V2 can be very risky for its commercial success. Certainly many potential new customers with suficient technical knowledge will value its huge versatility, but I believe that those who do not have this level of technical knowledge, as it is my case and the case of most new WP users and in fact the WP trend, will be overwhelmed.

But for current GD V1 users, apparently small issues like this one or the disappearance of the footer and some sidebars, which are the issues about which I am most frustrated, I believe that could become a serious reputation problem for your company. It is just my opinion, if it can be of any help.

Anyway, two small issues remain unresponded and I would appreciate your comments about them:

    1) The document icons showing in the upload window.
    2) Can the Title and Caption be permanently visible and not only on hovering?

I look forward to your reply.

Thank you very much once again for your help.

    Best regards.

    Hi,

    I have found another issue:

The File Upload field is not duplicated by WPML when duplicating the page from the main site language to the other languages.

I look forward to your news.

Thank you very much once again for your help.

    Best regards.

    Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I have checked the GD V1 site clone and you are right, there is not “Add media” button for listings. However, I am very sure that GD V1 had “Add media” button for listings, at least until March / April last year, when I used it for the same annual online marketing campaign for which I needed to use it now.

Just to be sure, I checked the listings from last year to which I added images in HTML fields and the images are still there in the HTML fields, although the “Add media” button does not show. Therefore, I am very sure that the button was there last year, otherwise I could not have added the images.

Please, note my last comment, as it is a serious issue too:

“The File Upload field is not duplicated by WPML when duplicating the page from the main site language to the other languages.”

I will reply your questions about the document icons as soon as possible.

I look forward to your news.

Thank you very much once again for your help.

    Best regards.
