Major mess.. Please see https://usfdins.com
What did I do wrong and what do I have to do to correct it..
It is a total mess. Import put data in to categories..
Is it time to drink?
August 13, 2017 at 4:18 am #390937Adding to major mess ticket.. sorry. time for me to quit for the day. I have set up a multisite network. I am getting a message now stating Geodirectory does not know where it is installed.
” There was an issue determining where GeoDirectory Plugin is installed and activated. Please install or activate GeoDirectory Plugin. ”
CPT for category are displaying list view but.. when the listing title link is clicked page 404 error.
Should I just delete all the uploaded listings and start over?
August 13, 2017 at 5:41 am #390942Please see https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/faqs/how-do-i-use-gd-on-a-multisite-network/
GD should not be network activated, but should be activated on a per site basis.I suggest to start again, maybe you imported a listings import as a category import?
Thanks
August 13, 2017 at 6:16 am #390943Terminate the entire site and start from scratch? I understand about the network..will not do again but it was not behaving correctly so I did network activate. If “once” networked activated does that destroy the plugin so that we have to start all over. Major caution?
“maybe you imported a listing import as a category import?”
No, I did not import as category import. I may have messed up the copy/ past to the wrong column.
August 13, 2017 at 7:39 am #3909461. Delete all bad listings in sub-site
2. De-activate all GD plugins at network level
3. Activate on sub-site and treat as any other WP site.August 13, 2017 at 1:54 pm #390963Thank you Guust. That will save a great deal of time. Much appreciated. The good news is.. I got all 36 37 thousand listing to upload in one attempt. Whooowhooo! “)
Next, geodoe lat/long lookup. Could you recommend a new source. The past recommendation site is down as they revert to a new site model.
Apparently there are other sites but now they are reverting to a “fee” based method service to provide the lat/long.
Kind regards, much appreciated
August 13, 2017 at 2:18 pm #390965I am deleting all cpt listing as you suggested an notice something regarding the “location id”
I am going to assume that I did something in the hmmm map or multilocations settings to cause all locations to show the id of West Point.
Question: Do I need to delete those locations in the multi-locations setting too?
August 14, 2017 at 12:27 am #390985Mmmmm, you uploaded all 36K listings and only now do you want to lookup the lat and lng? That sounds like back to front, and may explain why they are all in the same city.
I used https://geocod.io a few times and it is very good. For 36K listings you would pay USD 18.00.
Question: Do I need to delete those locations in the multi-locations setting too?
There seems to be only one location, did you activate the Location Manager on the sub-site.Try uploading with 10 listings at first to make sure everything is set up correctly before uploading the whole lot in one go.
Thanks
August 14, 2017 at 12:37 am #390988lol.. back to front! yes.. I deactivated the “require” physical address first. I have discovered two “mistakes” on my part. I will get them corrected this time around. “)
I deleted the listings. It was not so bad doing 300 at at time. The extra time this morning allowed me to create “default” content on the listing. For example, links to insurance brochures, links to register, pricing tables and several other features. I am glad it happened now. It worked out for the best.
I will use the tool as you suggested and test a small sample first.
Also, I found out the culprit plugin that was causing the css problems and a new thread at at the developers site has been created.
All worked out for the best. Thank you for the guidance.
Much appreciated.
August 14, 2017 at 12:40 am #390990“I deactivated the “require” physical address first. ”
That means you will need to use a new CTP for your next import:( WARNING: this will remove all location data from the CPT, it can not be recovered if you set the wrong CPT )
August 14, 2017 at 12:43 am #390991OH.. no! Good catch! I would not have been happy the second time around! pohhooo… gd_fd2!
August 14, 2017 at 12:51 am #390992Guust.. it kind of begs the question! Why would anyone use that if they want locations? What would be the purpose of having maps if that feature was used on a CPT? What was the thinking there..
lol..”) IT should be kept locked up and child proofed! lol So “children” like me to not break things.
August 14, 2017 at 1:17 am #390996Hmmm I set up the new CPT 2 for replacing the one I messed up.. however. West Point California is still of concern. I typed in an address for West Point CA and the auto select “displayed” the address with City but… when I selected / clicked the address the address field populated with anything but West Point California.
I tested it again with other “selection choices” and “they worked correctly. Did I mess something up on another area Guust?
Thank you for your support
Kind regards,August 14, 2017 at 2:42 am #390999Close tickets.. I manually put in City and zip and now it is fine. Thanks for all your help.
August 14, 2017 at 2:57 am #391002A CPT without location can be used for online businesses etc, or if you want to use a CPT for blog posts instead of using WP posts. That way they can be searched using GD and have GD custom fields etc.
Cheers
