    I have a site that uses geodirectory for a few different things such as a listing of stores in my country and a listing of used products. The used products I would like to import from another site as I get my own listings but not enough. I have a plugin that does just this for regular posts in wordpress but due to geodirectory being a little unique I cannot use the plugin to import all data required for my CPT. If someone would be able to edit the plugin to allow me to correctly import all the data I would be willing to pay for the work. It does import into the CPT now but as mentioned does not allow me to select other data to grab.

    If I understand correctly:
    Create new custom fields to suit your extra data, then export that CPT, and then rework the CSV file ready for import.

    No not exactly, the plugin I am using grabs the info from a site that lists used products, and imports the selected data directly into post format. It actually does import to geodirectory CPT but only imports title, description and has the ability to import specific items on the page such as price…. but they do not get imported into CPT as I gather you use database tables that are specific to geodirectory. In a regular wordpress post the plugin grabs the feature image and it allows you to import other custom data directly to a post. But as mentioned it does not import that stuff to the CPT. So what I am asking is for someone to customize the plugin so it will allow me to import all the data I require for my CPT’s.

    The plugin can be set to run automatically and will publish or set to draft any imports. Works great but not useful without being able to import to CPT.

    Hello Jamie:

    Just some thoughts:

    1. Could you find a plugin to download the data from that site you want to download used products from in CSV format instead? This would allow you to follow Guust suggestion to use the build in bulk import tool.

    2. Have you spoken to that plugins author? They have the best grasp on their codebase and it would be fastest to have them modify it. Potentially they could even offer a way to export to CSV ( which would be a value add it seems to their plugin) and being the plugin author it could benefit the community if it gets pushed into the core PLUS most likely would be the most cost effective way(they known their own code best) and being integrated into the core helps allow you to keep a maintainable solution and helps the community.

    Which plugin are you trying to modify? Does the plugin keep constant updating / live sync / or is it a one time/manual plugin?

    There is no automatic way to import the data because no one knows the structure of the exiting data table. I can help you out.
