    Hello,

I am not sure if it is a bug, but…

After pushing the searchbutton with an empty search field AND

    a) typed in city e.g. [wien] I get a proximity distance which is great!

    b) typed in city e.g. [wien (City or Region)] I get NO proximity distance.

is that correct? because registered locations (regions and cities) have lat/long, too.

    thanks

    Hi,

the 1st is a search by proximity, it makes more sense when users search a zip code or a street address and it will show you listings around a specific location ordered by distance.

When you type in a city and search it calculates the distance from the center point of the city (which doesn’t make a lot of sense).

The second case is Search WITHIN a location and position them by distance (from what?) isn’t ideal.

Hope the explanation is clear enough.

    Thanks,

    Yes, yes, I understand.

I was just wondering, because it`s not consistent. thanks.
just for consistency I would expect the long/lat WITHIN a location.

I want to excuse me, to be a bit annoying, but…
I know, php mods are not available from your service.
but maybe you can give me a hint?

I`m just reading me into php and want to try ist myself.
would you be so kind to tell me, in which files do I have to take look for these functions? to get the functionallity of 2a.

It seems to me, all actions/hooks or whatever are there, but are only connected in a different way.

    thanks

    Hi,

that will be in geodir-search.php, but I can tell you already that it won’t be an easy thing to accomplish.

Especially if you are not an expert developer.

    Thanks
