Hi,
I was wondering if there is way to allow customers to suspend or delete their own posting once they are owner of their own listing.I find that there are times when a customer may want to remove their own posting. I am offering a one year membership and for example the customer may go out of business in the middle of their membership and would like to remove their own posting.
Or the customer is getting started on a their business and makes a posting but later decides that she/or he must wait until he gets his/her license for the business before posting, so they may want to suspend their listing.
The also maybe many other reasons whey the customer no longer wants to have their listing live. Is there a way for them to delete and/or suspend their own listing?
Thank you.
May 20, 2017 at 2:55 pm #379310Hello,
Yes they can do that from their author page, they can reach it from the login widget when logged in, you as the admin can set what happens when deleted, you can set it to go to trash so you and only you can restore it later or you can set it to be completely deleted, that setting is in GD>General
Thanks,
Stiofan
May 20, 2017 at 3:31 pm #379319Hi Stiofan,
Sorry but I don’t see an option to delete the posting for the user. When you are logged in and in the detail view page there are two buttons that take you to edit the listing. One button is right below the main picture and the other is on the side bar, but once in edit mode there is no option to delete the listing.
I guess I don’t see how to reach the author page from the detail listing page even if I am logged in. Maybe there is some setting that I need to set, for the author page to show up on the detail view page.
I visited the GD->General tab as you suggested but I already have “User deleted posts go to trash” checked marked. But I have “Allow user to see wp-admin” set to “No”. Do I need to set that to yes?
If I set it to yes, does that mean that the user will have access to all listing like admin? or only admin privilege to their own listing?
Thank you.
May 20, 2017 at 3:44 pm #379323I recommend you dont show users the backend. The user can reach his listings from the GD > Dashboard widget, you can add that to the details page if u want, but u can put it anywhere on the site, you will see the delete from that screen.
Thanks,
Stiofan
May 20, 2017 at 4:10 pm #379327OK, I see that I have to download and install the geodirectory_dashboard plugin and then install the widget to my detail page.
Thank you.
May 20, 2017 at 5:00 pm #379330No you don’t need that plugin, the GD>Login box widget is the GD Dashboard widget when you are logged in 🙂

May 22, 2017 at 11:13 pm #379604Thank you.
I have boddy press installed, so I use body press for login. Does this work with boddypress?
So I added GD_Login widget to my detail sidebar page and when I click on the dashboard “Account Settings” and then “Activity” in the boddypress I only see the old listings and they have an option to remove.
I added a new a test listing with admin login and I does not appear under “Activity”. I also logged in with a regular user account (non-admin) and also added a test listing and approved the listing and it shows up on the listing search but when I click on “Activity” for body press it does not show the new listing.
Some how the new listings are not showing up under “Activity”, so I can not remove them. Only old listings that I entered appear in “Activity” any Idea why? Could I have set something that prevents the new listings from appearing under Activity?
Thank you.
May 22, 2017 at 11:16 pm #379605One more thing,
I can equally go to my Dashbard and slect “My Listings -> Service” and it does not show my new listing only the old listing (Service, is the name of my post type).Any idea what might be wrong?
Thank you.
May 23, 2017 at 12:46 pm #379662For the buddypress, please start a new topic, there can be many settings that can prevent it showing in activity.
For “My listings” are the listings owned by the user you are logged in as, if so maybe its some sort of caching?

May 23, 2017 at 5:57 pm #379728Hi Stiofan,
I will open other issue, for this. But I already looked through the buddypress settings and the boddypress Integration settings and can’t make the “My Listings” show up, it says “No Listings found which match your selection” and I am logged in with the account that created many listings. If I go to the account settings and then to the boddypress activity it does list the listing but if I delete from there it just deletes it from the activity page and the listing is still showing on my website.
Thanks,
