For some reason my ‘Locations’ page when viewed is my homepage. I do not have GeoDirectory set as my homepage. This has been working fine for a number of days but now neither the menu location nor the view page at the back end of the site take you to it. GeoDirectory as homepage has been disabled in the Design settings from the start,
When I first installed GeoDirectory I encountered this problem but I rectified it by uninstalling and deleting the files and doing a fresh install.
Curiously though the error at hand has reoccurred over night when my computer has been off and with no further edits to the site occurring, at all.
I am building the site locally via MAMP Pro. I cannot think of anything that I have worked on that has caused this. My Permalink settings are correct both in the GeoDirectory settings and WP.
Thoughts?
June 26, 2015 at 12:06 pm #43715You selected a home page at WP > Settings > Reading > Front page displays ?
June 26, 2015 at 12:10 pm #43717Thanks for the reply.
I have the following settings:
WP > Settings > Reading > Frontpage = my desired homepage / not locations page
&
GeoDirectory > Design > Home > GeoDirectory Home Page = deselected
and
although it was present this morning, the locations page has now actually disappeared and is not visible in the back end of WP at all. I would imagine that is the problem but without having deleted it, where has it gone?
June 26, 2015 at 1:52 pm #43721Actually… please ignore the latter part of that reply. It has been a long day and I forgot I renamed my location title to community. The url however is still mydomain/location. So the page is there in the back end but you can still not view it/link to it.
June 26, 2015 at 4:54 pm #43764Hi,
in GD >> Permalinks, do you have a page selected in the location option?
Do you still have virtual pages or have they been converted in regular pages already?
If you provide a URL and admin credentials we can have a look for you.
Thanks

GD > Permalinks, the location page I have renamed to community is indeed selected as the location option. I set it to a random other page, clicked save and then reverted back to community… just in case but to no avail.
Sorry but don’t understand what you mean by virtual or regular pages?
I would be happy to provide those details but at the moment it is currently being built locally via MAMP.
June 27, 2015 at 2:39 pm #43831Hi again,
when you visit your pages list in the back end, do you still have virtual pages or are they all pubblished?
I would suggest to also move the install into a live server so that we can assist.
Blindly it’s almost impossible.
Thanks
June 27, 2015 at 10:58 pm #43873One suggestion (if I understand things correctly) is to delete your location page, then run the GD tools, then add the location page back at GD permalinks. That should restore your page to its correct status.
June 28, 2015 at 10:41 am #43887Paolo, again thanks for replying. The pages were indeed all published.
However, your suggestion Guust has worked. Thank you ever so much! Very kind. Any ideas what could have caused this breakdown?
June 29, 2015 at 3:14 pm #44007Hi,
sometimes users delete GD pages not knowing it will create problems.
In any case I’m glad the problem is solved. 🙂
Thanks
