Limit businesses on map; show drop-down for categories to search by

Good morning!

1) I would like to only show the paid/featured listings on my homepage map. There will be 300+ locations listed in my local area, that would make the map load very slowly and be difficult to navigate. What can I do to limit this?

2) On top of the map, there’s a search box that allows me to “filter by category” – but it shows all of the categories, and they’re all “checked” by default. I would like to show a drop-down of the categories and allow the user to select just a single category to filter by. How can I set that up?
