List all categories?

We have moved to a support ticketing system and our forums are now closed.

    I’d like to list all the categories for Places, even if empty, and in a custom sort order since they describe what the site is about (and it’s new so it will be awhile before all the categories are well populated). I don’t see any way to do that now other than manually coding the text with the links, but I thought I’d check before I do that. And if I go that way, I don’t think there’s any way to append the post count to the the categories is there?

    BTW, I appreciate all the updates you’ve been pushing out recently. I’m especially looking forward to checking out the BuddyPress integration!

    What about the Popular Post Category widget? You could add a dummy listing like: Be the first to list in this category.
    The only other alternative is like you say, manually code everything.

    Well, like I said, I need to list *all* the categories in some places. The Popular Post Category widget will be useful in some places later, but not what I need right now. So I’ll get to coding – thanks.
