I am using the listimia default theme for my site. One the homepage, there is a widget that says “what are you looking for today?” and shows large tiles of different cities based on a list of locations in the settings of geodirectory. I thought the list of cities that would be on the homepage would not change when new places are added. But, that is not the case. Hence, when a new place is posted, that city is added in the locations settings and now added to the homepage as a tile. This defeats the purpose of adding a featured image to the city for the homepage. How do I turn this off? I want to keep a set of 6 locations on the homepage. OR….leave it as it is, but use an image from the new place posting as the image for the tile on the homepage.
Please let me know how to handle this. Thanks.
April 5, 2020 at 1:21 am #538515As I understand it that is a widget provided by Listimia, and you just remove the widget. You should check the theme documentation about it for other configuration options as it is a 3rd party feature.
April 6, 2020 at 10:01 pm #538787I checked with the developer for the listimia theme and they said others have had this problem and it has to do with your widgets and plugins. The reason I got this theme was for the nice homepage. But if you cannot change the widget to either show a photo from a recent post for a city OR fix the cities to the homepage, then it looks like I have to use one of your default themes. Can you please let me know if you can adjust this widget? Thanks.
See below from theme developer.

Hello XXX,
Thank you for reaching us.
This has nothing to do with the theme since we are using the default GD widget.
If you try the widget with one of GD themes you’ll get the same issue (in Output type select Image grid)
The problem with this widget is that:
– You can’t choose which city you want to display
– You can’t choose a default imageI already pinged GD guys about this many times
So just check or ask them to check with one of the default themes

April 7, 2020 at 8:22 am #538858No, they are correct about the widget, about how it works. My recommendation was to remove it if it does not do what you want.
Many members use a builder to create something like that.
April 7, 2020 at 1:16 pm #538932Crap. That was the main reason I went with listimia over GD themes. And I do not know how to work with builders. Also, I paid someone advertising on your site $200 to set my site up like the demo site because I had so many issues.
Any recommendations on where I could go online to get a tutorial on this “builder”?
April 7, 2020 at 4:20 pm #538970Hi wjpetersen,
Thanks for your reply. Here is the section of the documentation from Listimia theme. Could you go through it and see if it helps? https://addicted2web.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/360004421692-Listimia-GeoDirectory
April 7, 2020 at 10:43 pm #539031Hello everybody,
First of all it’s not a theme issue.
The page builder is useful only if you want to display specific locations, otherwise the Location Manager add-on should have an option to let uses set a default location image.April 7, 2020 at 10:47 pm #539034Hello wjpetersen,
I added a function that checks whether a location image exists, if not set a default image.
Please check your ticket.April 7, 2020 at 10:47 pm #539035Good idea! I will ask the developers to consider it.

That would be great. It is not perfect, but better than what it does right now. I just wish GD would fix this widget. There is no reason to have it if it does not pull an image from the places post. The way it works right now is horrible. Just blank images on every new post.
Let me know what to do on my site with your fix.
April 8, 2020 at 9:45 am #539089I smell a misunderstanding here. Actually the widget pulls location images that have been added in GeoDirectory -> Settings -> Locations
You can add locations manually by going to:
GeoDirectory -> Settings -> Locations -> Add LocationYou can also edit locations by going to:
GeoDirectory -> Settings -> Locations -> CitiesApril 8, 2020 at 8:59 pm #539166Rachid,
No misunderstanding. When a user posts a new place, the City of that Place now gets added to the front page as a tile. The tile is blank if I do not have a feature image already uploaded for that city. The featured photo should be pulled from either that city of the place OR any of the other places photos in the same city (kind of a rotation of featured photos). There is no way any site owner is going to load in millions of locations with featured photos in the event a new place is added with one of the millions of cities. If this widget cannot change, then at the very least it should lock the cities on the homepage and not change them.
April 9, 2020 at 9:54 am #539239You’re right @wjpetersen the admin should have full control of the widget.
April 9, 2020 at 2:30 pm #539284Rachid,
So basically, I need to delete this widget from my homepage until GD fixes it? It doesn’t feel like this is going to happen any time soon…
April 10, 2020 at 12:05 pm #539462Hello,
We have added option to show fallback image for location. When city image is not available then it will show last post’s image added under that city.
It will be in next release.
