listing expiration question

    Hi,

    I have a basic – free business listing that lasts for 365 days. At the end of that time you can renew it, for free, for another 365 days.

    In the pricing settings there is the option to keep it the same or have it expire at the end of the 365.

    My question is, if I leave it that at the end of the 365 days it stays the same, will there still be a notification to ‘renew’ the listing sent to the owner of the listing? Even if it is not set to expire, but rather to be the same listing level?

    I want to be able to do this in case I have listings for people who have not claimed them, also because I do not want to lose listings that someone does not renew if they are just free listings.

    I think a reminder would be sent because the listing will “expire” and will be “downgraded” to the same price package. But I will get Kiran to confirm after the weekend.

    Hi Kathy,

    Listing pre-expiry notification sent for the listings which have expiry date set. It does not matter that package is free or paid, it just need to have a any expiry set to send pre-expiry notification to ask renew the listing.

    Let me make sure this is clear:

    If the basic-free listing is set to 365 days and at the end of the 365 days the listing goes to the same basic-free listing, not to expire, will a notification be sent to say that the listing needs to be renewed?

    I’m wondering if I need to set it to expire in order to have a notification go out.

    Please let me know if you have any questions about this.

    Yes, in this case it will also send the notification.

    And will the listing just renew without anyone having to do anything if the listing is set to the same level for after the 365 days? In other words, will the listing auto-renew?

    The notification content will be what you set at GeoDirectory > Price & Payments > Notifications.

    And will the listing just renew without anyone having to do anything if the listing is set to the same level for after the 365 days? In other words, will the listing auto-renew?

    This is just like downgrade package process when the current package expires it assigns the next package to the listing. If you have set same package in the package setting to downgrade package then it will renew listing and extend expiry by 365 days (as per you package).
