    We correctly installed and have running GD on another website, but when trying to add it to a new site, we just can’t figure out why the listing pages aren’t displaying anything.

    As far as I can tell, all the settings are exactly the same, yet nothing displays on the page

    Working page – https://seattlebookreview.com/places/united-states/washington/seattle/bookstore/elliott-bay-book-co/

    Not working page – https://sanfranciscobookreview.com/places/united-states/california/san-francisco-1/bookstore/pegasus-books-downtown/

    All of the widget settings are the same, as are the admin settings. The locations are all filled out with content and are visible and published, but nothing still showing on the listing pages for each place. Help please.

    In the other website, you had to added this css to make the directory visible:

    #geodir-wrapper {
        overflow: visible;
    }

    Thanks

    So I have to pay for a plugin to have more than one city name in the database? Really?

    San Francisco is a city but has multiple smaller city names in and around it. So in order to have a location in Noe Valley, I have to purchase the plugin instead of just assigning a different city name to an item place?

    Sorry if I answer to a question, with another question, but why would you expect us to work for free?

    Do you give all your work away for free?

    That’s how the project remain sustainable.

    Thank you

    p.s. you don’t need the location manager to add a place in Noe Valley, I just did a test using Zircon place as address which is in Noe Valley, and Google Maps returned it as a San Francisco address.

    See image attached.

    Thanks

    No I don’t expect anyone to work for free, but that’s a pretty big limitation to put on a directory plugin. Or it should be a lot clearer in the documentation before I spent a couple of hours installing, setting up and populating it before I discovered I can’t have more than one city name in the directory. Also wasted your time too if I move to a different directory over this.

    There are a lot of cities that have subdistricts with their own “city name”. While Noe Valley is in San Francisco, it has its own identity, and businesses there want to use their local city name. But apparently, this plugin will only let us use one city name per install without buying an upgrade? That’s my issue. And overall I like your plugin and your support, this is a pretty major reason to show around for something that isn’t overly limited or bait and switched. Which is how I feel.

    Clearer?

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/
    Features:
    Create a local directory, based on a single location, using the GeoDirectory free core plugin. Focus on a street or go as wide as a city. Expand to multiple locations or make a global directory with our MultiLocation premium add-on.

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/

    Create a world-class directory site
    Easily turn any WordPress theme into a rocket-fast single-location business directory (Multi Locations add-on avail.).

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/features-list/
    Plug & Play
    Just install the free plugin, set your location and start listing. Add more locations with the MultiLocations add-on.

    It’s written everywhere, how can you make it clearer than that?

    “One location” isn’t clear that “you can only use one city name in your directory”. Again San Francisco (one location) has 30 different districts all with their own name. So does New York. So does almost every major city. Saying New York is one location, but you can’t give a Manhattan address or Brooklyn? Limiting your users to only one actual city name is a poor way to push your upgrades. You’d be better off limiting the number of places in the free version or a geographic range for geo-location.

    We won’t use you again just move to a different plugin. Not like there aren’t several to choose from.

    We can just close this ticket, I don’t need to argue with you over this. And with your attitude as it is, I don’t want to support your business in any way, even free. If you’d handled this better you probably would have had not only the Location Manager plugin out of us this week, but probably several others over time.

    My attitude? You are complaining about the feature of something we give away for free! 🙂

    If there wasn’t a paying add-on to solve your problem, I’d understand the frustration, but your frustration is that you have to pay and that is really disheartening.

    Especially knowing it isn’t the 1st website you create with our free work…

    Enjoy the other plugin!

    I would just like to add to this:

    You’d be better off limiting the number of places in the free version

    This type of setup is not allowed by WordPress and therefor GD would not be allowed on the WordPress repository as a free plugin.

    Multi locations is a major addon, it has so much functionality, its not just a case of adding another city name.

    Thanks for your feedback, we can’t please everyone 🙂
