    Hi,
    Recently I’ve been having an issue where category listings are showing in only the same location that the user was previously looking at. For example, if someone looks at this listing: http://www.familyfriendlyhudsonvalley.com/places/cornwall/educate/hudson-highlands-nature-museum-2/, and then navigates to any category in the menu, the website will only return results in the same town as the previous listing they were looking at (in this case, Cornwall). Can you please help me fix this? I would like listings in all towns to display when a category is clicked.

    Thank you,
    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

    Do you not show the location switcher anywhere? Those are location specific links which are meant to help a user find relevant info. Having the location switcher somewhere will show the user its only showing info from that location.

    No, I don’t right now. There are many towns/cities that I cover and often people want to see results in several nearby towns. I’m just wondering why when someone looks at one place or event, they are automatically shown results afterwards in only that town. That’s not what my users would want.

    The assumption is that if a user is looking at a listing in one area they will want to see listings in that area, the location switcher should be shown somewhere on the page, this can help users understand where they are viewing listings from and to be able to change that easily.

    Okay, I get that. But since my website only covers one region, my readers are usually looking for places and events in multiple towns within the region (so maybe within a certain radius). But it sounds like I can’t quite do what I’d like.

    I looked at the documentation for the location switcher. It looks like I have to use this code:

    #menu-item-gd-location-switcher dd {width: 100%;}

    since I only cover one region within one country. Do I add this in Design -> Scripts -> Custom style CSS? Or in the GDF Modern options -> Quick Code?

    Thanks.

    I would suggest you add it under the GD custom styles, but i still dont see the switcher on the site?
